Even a child like Alexis could see it. It felt rather confusing, a witch and a druid together. Then again, maybe it wasn’t? Maybe magic found magic. Much like the big tree in the forest worked. It drew those supernaturally attuned to it, now Alexis was sure of it. Still, Alexis looked at Leo and Magnus with a certain longing. She had never been that close to anyone since she came to Klamath Falls. Maybe that was partly her fault, as she didn’t go out all that much. Hell, she didn’t particularly open up. But nobody even tried to get to know her. Alas, she could blame herself or she could blame the world. It wouldn’t change her situation. A situation she wasn’t sure how to handle now. Of course, she’d still listen to Callie and her teachings. But she wasn’t entirely sure what she brought to the table. After all, Alexis was only just a warlock. What good would she do in the coven? They say fear tastes like aluminum in the back of your throat. They say fear is one of the primal emotions a person can feel. It acts as a warning. Your guts telling you a situation has an excessive amount of risk. Alexis wasn’t sure if she could taste aluminum. She wasn’t sure why her mental alarm was going off. The only thing she knew was that her heartbeat was rising again. The wolf that attacked her classmates was still out there. In fact, it was very, very strong. Strong enough to make people like Leo fear it. So why shouldn’t she? But her mind, ever overthinking it, kicked it up a notch. If one werewolf could be this dangerous, what about 3? Or five. She didn’t count how many of her classmates ended up in the hospital with bites. What about them? Callie said they wouldn’t be dangerous because Zoe would look over them. But how would Zoe look over them in school? How’d she be their guardians when they’re roaming the halls? Yes, it was aluminum she tasted. Callie’s encouraging words did help a little. Though, Callie didn’t know half the truth of it. Alexis could barely remember who she was just two years ago. The memories were vague and often filled with pain. She felt like she didn’t have an actual identity yet. Magic changed that. It gave her something special. Something to make her own. To individualize herself. Magic did make her who she was. Alas, the cascading thoughts seemed to have hit a boiling point. Suddenly she heard a loud thud coming from the corner after Callie assigned the rooms. When Alexis looked, she noticed the Grimoire out of her bag and open. Normally the page would be blank in the presence of so many people. But even from a distance, Alexis could see figures taking shape. Afraid Callie would see what was happening and ask too many questions, the warlock girl almost jumped for the book. Before she slammed it shut she quickly read the title: Monkshood. “Sorry. I –auhm… screwed up an enchantment one time. The damn thing sometimes wants to break free.” She awkwardly said as she pushed it straight into her bag. “Thanks, I’ll go upstairs now. If you don’t mind. I sort of feel a bit tired.” As quickly as she could she ran upstairs towards her assigned room. Swiftly she snuck inside, trying to be as quiet as possible so not to wake up Abi. Once inside, tiredness really did kick in. Exhausted she dropped the bag and threw herself on the bed, falling into a deep slumber.
