Well, I never give the GM the ultimatum you described. I tell them, in a PM, about the reputation and trouble that the player in question has caused on multiple occasions. This has been met with A: No response, B: Telling me to chill the fuck out, or C: Possibly actually taking action.

The majority of the situations ended in B. I don't feel like investing myself in something that I know someone else is going to ditch a week down the line; So I end up leaving myself after a bit of lurking and seeing what happens. I'm not one that likes to momentarily take something up and leave it; If I really like it, and I can get along with the group, then I'll strongly invest myself. But there's just some people who have fucked me over again, and again, [i]and again.[/i]

I don't want to deal with them anymore. It's simple as that.
