You know this sounds great! I have few ideas for a character for this. Did not know if you wanted me to comment here or somewhere else. I'm definitely down for this. My idea involves a slightly darker mage who tried to use forbidden magic to save your girl from something. He  was punished for his arrogance by never being able to have her again. He would always remember her and she wouldn't know him. Just an idea.
