Correct. However, you can be both a good writer and a good roleplayer. Personally, I view myself as both as I prefer collaborative writing to solo writing. I would not be immersing myself in this hobby for nearly twenty years if I just wanted to write a book; the sentiment is absurd. On a semi-related note, I would also prefer to work with someone similar to my level of descriptive detail, narrative, and characterization ability as I am rarely interested in adjusting my writing level down as it is unconstructive for me to do so.
Of course, That's fair enough, you shouldn't have to roleplay with people who don't interest you or match with what you want. If you're 1x1'ing or running your own campaign. I hope you don't think that statement was meant for you. That was just a general thing I do feel like, some people think writing a book would take too much commitment and roleplay instead. And I usually can tell by how they behave in roleplays especially if they're a GM. I do feel like collab writing can be used fine, but it can also possibly feel excluding. But that's a different conversation. I just wish I could see a little more flexibility overall. I've seen a person drop an RP midway through because they didn't like "how the plot was unfolding." and because of a newly added player that wasn't going as in depth as everyone else. Mind, the person wasn't being lazy, was just younger in age. And I feel like that action itself was petty.
