The real question is how do you get the Deep South to believe in communism.
By having the isolationist, safe candidate they voted for start WWIII, cause an economic crisis in doing so because there's no more trade with China, then have the war be solidly lost overseas with a former ally being nuked and conquered. Then you just say "Obama fucked up, Trump fucked up, WE won't fuck up". And maybe say you believe in the ideology of "Economic Democracy" created by "Carl Mark" and "Freddie Angel" or some shit. Hilariously enough, the South has some of the more active communist groups (aside from the pothole-fixing anarchists of fucking Portland of all places). The Austin Red Guards, John Brown Gun Club (and by extension Redneck Revolt), and then all the Trotskyists that had a big event in Durham last year. Or maybe it was Raleigh. I don't know, I didn't go because I'm not a Trotskyist. The difference is that people here are more willing to distrust the government than, say, northern liberals are. Maybe it was the eight years of the opposing party being in the White House, maybe it was that bit a zillion years ago when the government cut a swath of destruction through the region. A good example of this is the most common argument for gun rights I hear besides "self-defense", which is "So the government can't go all 1984 on us". As opposed to the bunch of doormats that are your mainstream, non-violent (unless it comes to people that speak Arabic) liberals in the north. When your ideology allows for violence, it makes you a lot more viable for radicalization than if you practically worship non-violence. It might be hard to convince a Republican that Marx was right, but I've personally done that. I've never even heard of the same happening to a northern-style liberal (it's worth nothing that liberals down here tend to be more receptive to violence than those up north too, and I've managed to get some to entertain communism).
[@The Spectre] lol [s]If you have any rich 1%ers though my people will literally skin them and torture them to death and leave their bodies to rot and no I'm not joking about it[/s]
You might not be communists, but boy is one of my Generals going to like you guys. Dude's only in it because he wants to kill the rich.
I feel like that my nation is going to be the only one that is democratic while the rest will be either communist or totalitarian... and I am surrounded by commies, lol.
Well, I mean, my commies just want a representative democracy but communist. So you're not the only one that wants voting to still be a thing, just the only one that wants both representative democracy and capitalism.

American People's Liberation Army
Platform The APLA is an umbrella coalition of various leftist groups, but has the relatively mild platform of simply defeating the federal government and turning industry and agriculture over to the workers. It does not have any central social stance, and the system it aims to create could be described as "Democratic Socialism" (with worker control of the means of production combined with a democratic government, which the APLA states would be modeled off of the federal American government). Important Individuals:
General Baumann is an ex-marine who served several four years in the corps, including multiple deployments to Afghanistan. He entered the Marine Corps in 2002 as a graduate from the United States Naval Academy, and retired in 2014 with an honorable discharge as a Major. Though he entered the military primarily as a way to pay for his education, he found that by the time he could get out of service there wasn't much work for anyone at all. As a result, he remained in it until the annexation of Crimea in 2014 at which point he decided that he didn't want to gamble on going for the pension that comes with 20 years of service. After retirement, he found himself with little work and regretting his degree. He drifted between various jobs in various different fields, none of which he ever felt comfortable in. He had become used to how the military functioned, and saw nothing of the sort in how a company functioned. To him, the military had put credit where credit was due, while every job he took rewarded those above him for what he had done himself. 2016 was a hard year for Richard. By then, he was firmly a drunkard. His shattered life laid the perfect groundwork for the total political 180 he experienced that year, as he found himself enamored by the Sanders campaign's economic focus. After the Sanders campaign failed, he found himself abstaining from a presidential election for the first time in his life. His introduction to social democracy through Sanders led to an introduction to socialism (then still nothing more than "big government" to him) and eventually the theory behind communism. He became a living example that it wasn't just edgy teenagers that were pushed to the radical left by the events of 2016. When the LPC came about, he enthusiastically joined and volunteered to assist the militia when it was formed. He was enthusiastic about its stated goals, as he himself had come to feel that the 1st amendment rights of Americans were being infringed by the government. Even after it was branded as a terrorist group, he remained a member and happily participated in its less savory criminal activities. When the D.C. riots began and the militia was deployed, he volunteered to lead the force. The LPC approached him after the dust had settled and asked that he help lead the newly formed APLA, which he was glad to do. He has since become a central figure in the APLA, bringing his professional military knowledge to the table. Few strategic decisions are made by the APLA without his input being given.

Abraham had a hard childhood. His biological parents were crack cocaine dealers who were arrested after breaking into their old house in Asheville, NC, to retrieve the cocaine they had quite literally simply forgotten in the attic after selling it in order to get the cops of of their tail. He was barely a toddler at the time, and as a result was raised in a Christian orphanage up until the age of five. at that age in 1995, he was adopted by a black, inner-city family in Durham NC. Everything was well and good until around his 18th birthday, when the recession hit. Like many children he had never held many political views beyond an obvious anti racist bent (being the white child of black parents will generally prevent someone from being racist). The recession changed all that, and hit him right when he had begun to start to care about politics. His family lost everything, and so did he. The effect was inevitable. He turned to crime to make ends meet after leaving the house, only to be hit with the full force of the recession immediately afterwards. He liked to think he had a sense of morality, and tried his best to only steal from those he felt deserved it; which to him was anyone that was well-off while he and his parents both tried desperately to make rent payments. Inevitably, this got him caught (it's a lot harder to steal from the gated community than from the projects). He spent five years in prison, getting out in 2014. Though the recession was officially long over, its ripples could still be easily felt. Especially for a former inmate. There was simply no chance of a job for him, and as a result he ended up reconnecting with similar-minded self-styled robin hoods he met in his short-lived criminal career and jail. They decided to take things a step beyond simply not stealing from the poor, and began to actively target the rich. After all, the way they saw it the rich had been the reason they had to turn to crime in the first place. Things escalated after Abraham started to take his hatred of the people he felt wronged by further, and started to read communist literature. Through embracing it himself and pushing it on the rest of his group, he ended up becoming the de facto leader of the LPC militia's predecessor. Post-2016, his group became involved in activities that made them terrorists in the eyes of the law. Industrial sabotage, outright murder of high-up business executives, and other activities quickly pushed them underground. Abraham and his group were actually involved in the founding of the LPC, and it was reorganized and expanded into the LPC militia (partially so as to disavow any connection with earlier criminal activities). He and Richard were the two leaders of the militia at its founding, and Abraham's firsthand experience with underground activities (including theoretical knowledge of guerilla warfare) combined with Richard's knowledge of and experience with professional strategy has turned them into a formidable team. In comparison to General Baumann's practical and ration approcahes to most situations, General Freeman will generally make choices based up on his emotion (which General Baumann likes to attribute to Abraham's relative youth). He will hesitate to put his troops in any severe danger, but never hesitate to ruthlessly punish someone he feels deserves it.
Territory: History: The APLA didn't officially form until the nuking of Busan, though the groups that originally formed it existed well before. Rural socialist parties and organizations were united shortly after the attack on Busan by an entirely new group-the Leftist People's Coalition-under the idea that it would act as a united front for socialism in American politics. The LPC, though officially nothing more than another political party, formed a pseudo-militia for the purpose of protecting protests in the increasingly violent political climate. Said militia was involved in numerous confrontations with law enforcement and counter-protesters, and with the war being enough of a problem it was branded as a terrorist group. The LPC as a whole, though still considered legitimate, became more and more involved in subversive activities as a result of this. The militia became increasingly organized, with ex-military members of the LPC often choosing to train militiamen in actual combat. Deteriorating conditions in America as a result of the war-which had decimated the consumer economy-turned many away from the centrist Republican and Democratic parties they had been aligned with before and towards more radical options. The LPC's heavy presence in the Southeast, combined with its centrist social position, presented an attractive alternative for many. With every new member of the LPC, its paramilitary arm grew in size. Soon, the militia became involved in what was referred to as "Robin Hood crime". It acted as an organized crime group in the theft of just about anything owned by the rich that wasn't bolted down. Already branded as terrorists, there was little that could hurt their image. In fact, their actions did quite the opposite. The poor that they helped were only infuriated at the government when it vilified the militia's actions. In response to the Washington D.C. Massacre, the militia mobilized en masse in defense of the protesters. As the severity of the situation truly set in, it wasn't long until they were engaged in active combat within the warzone of a city. The LPC leadership recognized that the tensions had come to a head, and party leaders chose to order the militia to attack national guard bases and seize weaponry and vehicles. Once the dust had settled in D.C. and the nation began to truly erupt, the LPC voted to reorganize itself so as to bring all resources of the party to service the militia. And thus, the American People's Liberation Army was born. Military Forces (How do you fight? What do you fight with? Who fights for you?):
