I wouldn't worry too much, and sorry I made you doubtful about choosing your ability. For Malena I wasn't really thinking about filling in any particular role. I decided on her power after I finished all the others parts, so I could switch it if necessary. I wanted something powerful but also limiting. I also wanted her power to jump start her character development. As a back up ability I had a hypnotic voice, which she also couldn't control making her mute.

I could still switch if that works better for you.
