Three miles up... three miles down. Johnathan had heard a few of the solders around camp say that when it came to the run up Mount Currahee; Three miles up, three miles down. It wasn't the kind of run that you sent the physically unfit on right away, you had to build up to it otherwise people were going to drop like flies. While some of his teammates were quick to jump the trigger and get started, running and jogging up the trail without even waiting for the Captain to start them off, Johnathan actually remained where he was to keep an eye on his teammates. He had already made the decision to jog alongside the slowest member of the team. Partly it was so that he could help encourage someone who might require it more then the front runners, but it also put him in a good position to aid anyone who tripped or who weren't in a good enough condition to continue on their own.
