If you had a side-by-side comparison, you might find it difficult to tell the difference between the streetwise snarker and the jovial acrobat with their relatively similar appearance. 5’10”, athletic build, blue eyes—the only thing noticeably different is a scowl versus a smirk. Jason doesn’t remark on their similarities often and tries to define himself in new ways. His civilian appearance is always met by the accompaniment of his father’s motorcycle jacket, padded gloves, combat boots, and a pair of loose denim jeans.
C A R E E R & H I S T O R Y

For his whole life Jason Todd has been at the bottom, looking up at the towers of Gotham’s elite wondering what life could be like up there. Born into the infamous Red Hood Gang—a street gang located in one of the worst neighborhoods of Gotham where poverty and unemployment scoured the streets, corruption lined the pockets of the police, and violent wars based on narcotics were everyday life. Jason Todd’s father was Willis “Red” Todd, a former boxer from the streets of Gotham’s inner city who had minor acclaim in his youth but turned to crime following crippling debt. Years before Jason’s birth Todd had turned what was a meek motorcycle gang into a streetwise organization that oddly served as the protectors of the poorest people of Gotham. However, the Red Hood Gang was still a street gang; they dealt drugs, robbed those unaligned with them, and did what they wanted when they wanted. The press called them “anarchists” and “thugs” while the larger organized crime outfits of the city didn’t bother with them since their neighborhoods weren’t their larger concern at the time, especially following Batman’s debut in Gotham. But to Jason Todd they were not anarchists or thugs, they were his friends and family who did what they could with what they had to make sure people felt safe. But good things never last. Not in Gotham. The larger organized crime outfits began to collapse around the crusade of the Batman and the smaller gangs that controlled the streets of the inner city became more vicious and cunning. These gangs began scoping up Red Hood territory hoping to capitalize on Gotham’s fear of this “force of nature” that was responsible for a changing of power. Because they knew with the fall of The Roman Empire that Gotham would be thrown into chaos and others would fill the power vacuum as soon as it was an option to. Eventually, a firefight at Ace Chemicals would show the end of the Red Hood Gang as it was; Willis Todd never came home and another lieutenant of the gang took charge in his absence. But it wouldn't help. The pieces were already in place for the gang to lose their identity, their control of The Narrows, and their existence. The gang afterward fell into shambles in what felt like seconds. And then there was nothing. Orphaned and bitter, Jason wandered the streets of The Narrows doing what he could to survive and generally get into trouble. He was ten years old and he had lost everything he had ever known, all due to shitty circumstances and superstitions. In time he crossed paths with Batman and everything else was history.
S K I L L S & T A L E N T S

Masterful Skills:

Jason Todd has been surrounded by the crime of the inner city for his whole life; a fact that is only strengthened from growing up in the shadow of a street gang that for many years controlled The Narrows. Some could say that he had an adept understanding how crime worked way before he became the second Robin—a fact that seems to have some credence following his debut as The Red Hood, a few years following his untimely death at the hands of The Joker.

Jason Todd has been surrounded by automobiles and motorcycles the entirety of his life, a fact that was remarked upon by the snark of Alfred Pennyworth after he retrofitted Dick Grayson’s motorcycle to fit his requirements at the age of fourteen. This expertise has not changed in the years since as he has had to learn how to modify vehicles on a much smaller budget.

During his time as the Red Hood, Jason Todd has took his initial training under Batman a few steps ahead which has included widening his arsenal with the inclusion of firearms and other ranged weapons. This includes tutelage under Michael Sommers, a former member of the League of Shadows who specialized in the medium. It could be suggested that Jason is as accurate with a bullet as he is with a shuriken, though it is hard to tell for certain with his “shoot first, think about it later” mentality.

Following the death of his father, Jason lived on the streets of inner city Gotham and had to rely on his wits to survive. Had Jason not had the skill to be quiet and cautious, he would’ve probably ended up on the business end of a handgun or other weapon brandished by the various thugs he manipulated in some way or another to survive. When he was “adopted” by The Batman, it only made his talent for sneaking and hiding all the much more refined.

Adept Skills:

Despite being chump change in the shadow of Dick Grayson, Jason is a capable acrobat who has always mixed his streetwise awareness and ability in parkour with his training under The Batman.

Jason has always been adept with the concept of ‘breaking and entering’, though he was never really skillful with doing it quietly. After spending time as a soldier of fortune of sorts, Jason has found himself quite knowledge in various forms of demolitions and tactical breaching of enemy facilities.

Growing up there were two profitable trades that the members of the Red Hood Gang were adept with—one was serving as enforcers… the other was illegal street racing. Polished by his tenure as Robin, Jason is an expert driver when it comes to vehicles (especially motorcycles) and has often bragged that he’d “crush” Grayson in a real race.

Jason is a proficient martial artist, but he’s also a cunning combatant who utilizes the environment and tactless grit to his advantage. If something calls for dirty shots or unfair advantages to win a fight it is likely that Jason will use such tactics without remorse or caution. Combining this with a pedigree as a member of the Batfamily, Jason is not one to antagonize without consequence.

Despite lacking the patience for it during his time as Robin, Jason eventually took to the training offered by The Batman. Complimentary to his knack for sneaking, Jason has learned to wait and properly track and investigate his targets.

R E L A T I O N S

Bette Kane: Jason and Bette have been effectively dating since a little before he got his skull caved in by a crowbar. His revival under the care of Ra’s al Ghul made things complicated, and they already were complicated enough considering Bette’s mother is the youngest sister of Martha Kane—Bruce Wayne’s mother. So… yeah, they have issues they need to work out.
