Name - Maya Mendoza Alias - Ghost Rider Age - 20 Powers - Enhanced Strength: Has the strength of a professional power lifter, despite her smaller frame. Hellfire Flesh: Is particularly effective against spiritual enemies, but burns hot enough physically as well. Semi-Corporeal: She can phase through objects, briefly. Weaknesses - Running water: She can't cross running water unless there's a barrier of earth between her and it(so underground rivers are fine, as are stone bridges). Rain causes her mild discomfort while in her Ghost form. Involuntary Transformation: When confronted with injustice or violence, Maya begins to transform. She can try to hold it back, but often not entirely. She no longer watches the news or gets on tumblr. Personality - Reserved, frank, good-hearted Experience - none Appearance - A smaller girl at 5’3”, Maya has light brown skin and curly black hair, cut to just above her shoulders, and usually tied back. As Ghost Rider, her mortal flesh is burned away, revealing the bones beneath, wreathed in purple hellfire. A plume of thick, black smoke issues from the top of her skull, and trails behind her head, falling down to the middle of her back where it dissipates, resembling long dark hair. The skull is etched and carved with obscure mesoamerican patterns, and her eyes and mouth have the brightest flames. Her Ghost Rider form reverts to the clothes she was wearing when she first encountered the spirit of vengeance that resides in her. A leather one piece racing suit, black down the middle but with purple on the arms and sides, along with black boots and gloves. Despite her being bones in this form, the suit is filled with hellfire, and stands up as if a person were in it. The illusion is dispelled in the places where the leather is ripped, revealing nothing but fire and bone underneath. BRIEF Bio - Daughter of racing champ gearhead Lorenzo Lopez, Maya joined her father's off-road racing team. When her father was stricken with cancer, she went so far as to take up his own car in the races. After sunset on a long desert rally, a dirty racer ran Maya and her father's car off the track and down a steep hill. She and the car tumbled, both breaking badly as the rest of the racers zoomed into the distance. Crawling from the wreckage, a delirious Maya begged a confused mixture of saints and gods to put her father's prized racer back together again. Something answered. Zarathos has been called angel, demon, and simply spirit by cultures who didn't differentiate. Regardless of the ecclesiastical designation, this is a being of vengeance, seeking a vessel in the world of mortals. Unbeknownst to Maya, she is a direct descendant of a mesoamerican culture who had a prolific cult dedicated to this being. They provided it with souls in exchange for vengeance against their enemies. This deal was ruined in the most unlikely way when the tribes all came together peacefully, and later were scattered and decimated by plague. Now Maya is the first in centuries to invoke Zarathos, who is eager to make good on the deal, so as to avoid an ongoing debt. Key Differences - Rides an off-road rally buggy. Chain is replaced by a hooked winch cable, the winch itself is slung low on her hip like a holster and can reel back in at great speed. Sample Story Arcs - A Central American cartel boss/enforcer could share her bloodline, and also invoke a portion of Zarathos’ power, becoming a darker version of Ghost Rider(because even gritty characters need gritty reboots). She could easily become invested in the freedom of souls that her patron demon has consumed, and may try to look for a workaround for her curse/blessing/deal. The first thing she would do for this is make a second deal, something to the effect of two evil souls per one good soul freed or something like that. Supporting Characters - Anyone mystical, I can see Loki/Thor or Doctor Strange getting involved with her.
