The air made his skin crawl, it was so dry that his hairs stood on end with a buzzing sensation and made him realize that his tattered clothes were bothering his so-far suppressed sense of modesty. Why were they torn anyway? How did he get here like that? "I found this when I was playi--studying around with these 'bracer-things' earlier," As Gio walked down the aseptic hallway, he leaned back to the other two and lifted his wrist to show them. Suprisingly more amicable despite his attitude just then and his overall general appearance, it seemed that he felt a little more comfortable now and what he was about to show them thrilled him somewhat. With two light taps, the face of the device lit up, panels of translucent orange holograms blinked into existence around his arm. It was like solid light enveloping the device, yet his pointed fingers sunk right through them. And with everything he 'touched' it chimed and brought out a new panel. It seems to have saved the last time he was toying with it, shown by the utter mess of options he opened on accident. "See this over here?" Gio carefully gestured to a large blue panel with grid-like lines on the side and splashes of other colours inside what seemed like the silhouette of a legless horseshoe crab. "It looks like a map." Then he shifted his hand to the right, now pointing at an overlapping small green icon of a leaf and a yellow grain stalk. "I think that's where we'll find food. That might be important if we're going to ...Be here. For awhile. It doesn't seem too far from where that uhm....err ...fish person is too." He said, trying to remember a certain name that was hanging at his teeth. The dwarf showed up as a highlighted triangle on the map that moved as he moved. True enough, they did bump into him around the corner. Gio quickly wiped the back of his hand against his mouth when they were momentarily distracted by the dwarf, at least his stomach hasn't growled yet."...anyway, we should get to this Hy-dro-ponics area." He squinted at the letters. ---------------------------------------------------------------- It did not take long before the faint scent of budding flowers and fresh water began to seep into his nose, the walkways became more windowed as they approached their destination, metal slowly being replaced by glass they could even walk on. Clean crystalline water flowed beneathe the floors to the other parts of the ship, all coming from a single large room just in front of them. "This must be it." When the transparent shutters opened, a gust of soothing warm air rushed past them. It was brighter than the hallway before but the eyes did not strain when looking about to see the various flora that was in every inch of this place. Artificial streams brushed up against every plant, providing them nutrients and water. Some ...many, actually, were even completely submerged by water in the minute rivers, tanks and in the strange cylindrical holes that lined the walls. Algae, kelp and some underwater ferns not quite seen before floated daintily in them. The various trickles too gave a sense of life to the place. It seemed surreal. The stark contrast of cold, unliving alien technology supporting this tranquil natural world. But Gio seemed distracted, his eyes jumped from plant to plant in growing disappointment. ...can we ....eat this? However in the corner of his eye, he spotted a small metal bridge leading to a padded door, slightly hidden behind a curtain of hanging moss. A farmiliar symbol was etched into the shutter, the sign of grainstalks. This was where the floral scent came from. Looking over the railings, he saw areas of fertile loamy soil encircling many chairs and tables that sat on steel floors, all around the trunk of this one tree. Gio felt like he had never been close to nature before and at the back of his mind something nagged at him telling him 'trees were bad' or something, but looking at this upclose, it didn't seem that bad. Not at all. Even if the place was unkempt, overgrown with weeds and seemingly bare of anything he recognized as edible. Granted there were others on board that were far more apt at recognizing plants than he was. "Do you all see anything we can eat?" Gio asked the others, glancing at a mesmerizing red mushroom with white tiny dots that caught his attention.
