He shifts into reverse and backs up before pulling out onto the driveway and onto the road.  He takes off and the off road tires roll up sounding like a pack of hounds barking.  He gets up to speed and the tires let out a long low hum.  He starts talking but the sound of the engine tires makes it hard to hear.

"Being out in the open like this, it gets unbelievably loud."

He says, just barely loud enough for her to hear.  He begins rolling into town, going around the curves leading into town.  He enters town and turns left at the light, heading out of town towards the resort.
