It was just big enough to illuminate their surroundings, but not so hot as to give off an immense heat to Carolina. At the very most, it would be uncomfortable. And odd. Always odd. But there wasn't much she could do about that effect in particular. "I'm not sure," October admitted. "There are location spells, but I'm not a witch, really..." Of course, Carolina did have a phone on her, but the notion to use an iPhone never would have occurred to October. She only owned an iPod shuffle for her music. Pulling her compass out of her purse, she nearly grabbed one of her knives, grimacing awkwardly. That wouldn't help matters very much. "If only I had a map, then we'd know which way to go...But for now, I suppose picking any direction will be decent, until we find some sort of signage." The other children were out of sight by now. They had all split up in various directions, with no one quite certain as to where the town was. A few of them had pulled out their phones in an attempt to get directions, but signal was hard to come by near the Institute. There was something in the air, perhaps, that kept technology from properly functioning. But perhaps there'd be enough signal to get a general reference of the direction from the Institute to town--or at least, enough that a compass would work properly. "Do you remember which way you came in?" October inquired. "Any chance you went by that town?"
