I ran right passed the library without thinking. I thought about doubling back but every time I turned around to go back something told me to go the other way. So I kept pressing forward. Running away like a coward isn't something I like to do. But this feeling... I know I had felt it before. It meant danger. A red flag. It was starting to get dark, it was nearly six o'clock now. Around this time of year it gets dark fast and stays dark until about eight in the morning. I could feel the temperature dropping as well. The last bus home leaves in ten minutes and I am no where near a bus stop. Grandpa would most likely come get me if I give him a call, or he might tell me I should have paid attention to the time and now would have to walk home. He's funny that way. Either he'll give in and help let you go through a life lesson. I could have ran a few more blocks, but the area was slick with ice. I finally slowed into a walking pace do to nearly slipping face first into a light pole. The streets were almost cleared of people now. Just a handful were walking. Everyone else were either in a car or warm someplace. My stomach rumbled with hunger. My fingers were numb from being cold. My legs felt like jelly from running nearly thirty minutes. I halted in my tracks to take a look around. There was a coffee shop just across the street from where I stood. Should I? Or should I just head home? With me feeling hungry and cold the question was obvious. One quick cup of hot chocolate and a deli sandwich before heading out again. The feeling was still lingering but with how I am feeling myself I ignored it. Glancing both ways making sure no cars were coming I started to jay walk. The coffee shop was coming closer into view when it happened. I heard a roaring sound of a car coming my way. The driver had their high beams on which were blinding. I tried to dart forward before it rammed into me. I was a second too late. It side swiped me knocking down to the ground. The car slammed onto its brakes just moments after. Even though I was nicked the impact knocked the wind out of me. I gasped a times before I released I still could breath. My right arm hurt, and my head throbbed from being thrown a few feet. I tried to stand up but it made the throbbing worse. So I knelt down hoping to get my bearings again. Two people came jumping out of the car just now. I glanced around to see if anyone else was around there was no one. There were a few people in the coffee on looking trying to see what had happened. The two who just had gotten out of the car were now approaching rather quickly. The feeling that I have flared up like a dried up Christmas tree when being burned in the burn pile after the holidays were over. I wanted to ran but even with all my might I stumbled back to the ground. My vision started to fade out do to pushing myself in the state I am in. The last thing that I remembered happening was that I was being dragged off into the car before passing out completely.
