Quill's entirely made of plant material; his 'hair' is made of leaves that grow from his scalp, his skin is actually quite soft and smooth, veined like a leaf, however some parts of his body have small plates of bark-like material. Personality: Due to Quill's past, he trusts almost no-one. However he's not about to show it immediately, instead he chooses to play along with those who try associate themselves with him, merely questioning their motives out of curiosity. His understanding of Humans and the societies in which they live is still very limited as he has never really tried to associate himself with them. Should someone manage to break through his shell, he's actually a warm person. Backstory: Born from the fruit of a magically engineered plant, Quill (At the time he was named 'Second') was one of the two Sylvanian Flora made by a Chosen. Sylvanian Flora, unlike most humanoids, are born as fully grown adults, but their mental impressionability is that of a child. They learn quickly, physically and mentally as the pressure to adapt to their new life is ever present. The Second was never meant to be born. The Chosen had only created one Sylvarian Flora, but the First born, after many years of understanding the concept of 'life' and his denied freedom from The Chosen, he took it upon himself to create another like himself. Due to their natural abilities, it was easy for the Second born to hide amongst the vegetation on the lab, blending into his environment like a Chameleon. The two would converse in secret, the First born teaching the younger sapling about the world as he knew it, however such conversations made them realise how little they knew about the outside. Outside the lab. It wasn't long before The First born longed to escape from the lab with the plant in hand. Late that night, the two Sylvanian Flora stole into the lab and fled from the city with their Mother plant. As they left, the First born told him that they should refer to themselves as 'Sylvari' as a sign of their freedom. In their haste, The Second born lost sight of his older companion as their bounded through the forest. The young Sylvari continued to run, his path leading him to a small clearing in the forest. The moonlight poured onto the small cottage that stood in the middle of the glade. As he had been taught, the young sapling knocked gently on the door. It wasn't long before a young woman. At first, she was shocked at his appearance, specks of his skin and leaved hair glowed in the night. He was obviously not human, but he seemed harmless despite his otherworldly appearance. She simply decided to let the young Sylvari stay with her. For the next few months, the Second born and the woman learned more about each other. Julie was a thief who lived alone, occasionally stealing from residents of the nearby town. Her reasoning was survival, but also to fund her passion for calligraphy, as ink and parchment was expensive for someone like her. She was also the one who named the Second born. Quill. She taught him her ways of being a thief, as well as how to read and write, in exchange for his company. They lived happily together, Quill's curiosity being sated by Julie's knowledge of the world. He had learned a lot about human behaviour and customs, however he didn't fully understand the reasoning behind such mannerisms, but he accepted them as 'how things are'. One day, Julie had set her sights on a bigger target, asking Quill to assist her. Her target was the Viscount's mansion, which wasn't as heavily guarded as it should be for a royal home, but most of it's guards were stationed on it's outer perimeter. Using his camouflaging ability, Quill distracted a portion of the guards, rustling bushes in an unnatural way, allowing Julie access to the house. She had told him to stay outside to keep the escape route open for her, but she never returned that night. The coming morning, there was a large crowd of townsfolk gathered around a human who was shouting something about a thief. Quill hid himself in a nearby tree to observe. The thief that was caught.. Was Julie. Somehow Julie's eyes met his, as if she knew where he was. She gave him a sad smile and shook her head, signalling him not to intervene. Quill watched helplessly as his only companion in this world.. was publicly executed. Due to his still limited understanding of human behaviour, he found this all to be very unreasonable. The longer he tried to rationalise the situation, he developed a distrust for humans and their kin. Taking it upon himself to get his revenge, he stole into the Viscount's home during the night, using the plants within the mansion to cloak himself. Eventually he made his way into the Viscount's room. With Julie's dagger he murdered the nobility in cold blood, leaving a single quill on their chest. He left that town, living off the skills that Julie had taught him, abusing his natural abilities for himself. He often took contracts from bounty boards to earn extra money, obscuring his face behind a half-mask and the shadow of a hood to avoid unnecessary questions. He became somewhat infamous for the signature mark he left on his targets. A single quill.
