I'm ashamed to admit, but I have said "sigh" aloud and in a public irl situation. So maybe it's not totally out of left field. Granted this is not quite modern day and I did get a look or two going 'what?' 

As far as my post goes, I'm currently in the last of my school related functions for today, and will start writing when I get home.
