Following the main road would likely be the best course of action, as they could then use the signs to find their way to town. A few other kids were a good dozen yards ahead of them and moving in the same direction, so it couldn't be too terrible a course of action. Truthfully, though, October doubted they'd be able to recognize anything peculiar even if they were staring in a mirror. Crypts always had a good eye for the paranormal and the unnatural. That wasn't to say that she cared about winning, of course--she cared more about finding the object and learning what it did. She was fascinated with oddities, the principle reason why she agreed to attend the Institute. Truthfully, she didn't need any help learning about her world or about her abilities. That was something she could get at home with her uncle--instead, she was here to explore things that previously weren't available to her. She felt like a scholar of perhaps German studies, heading to Germany to explore more of what they already knew. "I was very young," October answered, a wistful smile on her face. "I burnt the house down in my sleep." There was an unspoken result of her actions, words that October felt didn't need to be said. She had caused her parents' deaths--why say that? It was more logical to allow Carolina to think of what she said and infer that misfortune.
