No sooner had he landed, however, than he kipped to his feet with such agility that his boots still slid backwards a few feet from the momentum. His hair was reduced to cinders, armor blackened with soot, exposed skin blistering from the flash of intense heat. Auz was ready for the pain this time. Dying hundreds of times over hundreds of years really bolsters one's mental fortitude. What's more, his enhanced speed had runoff that bled into his other stats. After all, to run at twice the speed a human was capable of, you had to have the matching strength and durability to keep your muscles from tearing due to the increased strain the body was subjected to. Were a common mortal to sprint as fast as Auz with no other physical adjustments, his legs would break from the force of his feet hitting the ground. Certainly he had toughness beyond that of any man now, which helped him to endure the damage he had been subjected to. Not as well as Magnix of course, not even close, but it could have been worse. He simultaneously drew his gauche dagger and broke into a dead sprint for Magnix, a short blade in each hand and concentrated wrath in his narrowed eyes (devoid now of eyebrows and eyelashes, which had been singed the fuck off). He'd in reach Magnix in less than two seconds. What tricks was he familiar with now? Thruster Feet- Check. Fire Breath- Check. Teleport Sword into Hand- Check. Fly- Check. Regenerate- Check. Auz was learning, bit by bit, each power Magnix had to offer. His wit, every bit as piercing as his blade, had already evaluated the weaknesses and potential tells of each move. The only question was, who would run out of resources first? Auz and his many lives, or Magnix with his scorching techniques?[/i]
