My vote as well. 

Reach in close quarters tends to earn some favor up to a point, even if these people are untrained and assuming they are not in a confined space that puts the bat at a disadvantage because of size. When you say reach is equal, I am assuming you mean the people themselves.

Also, this feels as though it may be a Based Stickman reference.
