[@Gelatinous Cube] Heyy, so, I've been talking with Echo about the established canon and necromancy in particular, and it was concluded that the act of say, raising a ghost/shade/entity retaining the consciousness of a person that lasts beyond death is rather a imperfect one. That is a ghost raised up in those ways is transient, only able to remain in the mortal world so long as the necromancer is able to keep the spell tat holds them there functioning. They're also silent, and tend to only be able to communicate through relatively obscure means. Think ouija boards and planchettes. That is, even the most powerful of necromancers would be incapable of raising themselves, and if one way raised, they would be limited in their ability to enact master plans. It was also discussed that given the timing it would seem a little co-incidental that there would be two evil wizard societies seeking the world's demise during effectively the same time period, (and indeed that they'd be pursuing similar end results without co-operating) as the character is the same age as the Professors who fought in the first war. I was thinking it might be worth collaborating and potentially merging this into the doomsday cult? If it's any help I'm going to be having a couple of unseen characters, effective NPCs relating to a student I'm writing, that are tied into the cult story, so would be happy to work out some stuff involving those two and your character. (Apologies for the wall o text there.)
