- Nicky remains blissfully unaware of his father's criminal activities for much of his childhood
- Mad Dog Moretti becomes a made man during his children's formative years, chosen as the personal soldier of Don Umberto Corno
- Now a standout athlete, Nicky is horrified at the revelation of his father's reputation and exploits in the criminal underworld
- While he contemplates joining the Armed Forces out of High School, the young Moretti instead enrolls in New York's Police Academy
- Stays out of contact with his family for his year of training at the academy
- Does not attend his own graduation and subsequently joins the (number) precinct in (neighborhood)

[indent]- Born to Italian immigrants in Newark, New Jersey, 1903
- Always a spirited youth, Federico falls in with one Tullio Corno as children and becomes his right hand man at the onset of prohibition
- Federico soon becomes a legend in the bootlegging community, said to drive, fuck and fight "like a Mad Dog"
- One of his dalliances in 1922 results in pregnancy; a shotgun wedding and his only (legitimate) child, Niccolò, soon follow
- Mad Dog Moretti is introduced to Tullio's uncle, Umberto Corno, whose bar is the base of the crew's bootlegging operation
- Umberto takes a liking to his nephew's brother in arms, and before long Federico is personally responsible for executing a number of independent bootleggers in order to strengthen the Cornos' stranglehold
- Inherits his father's meat packaging business in 1928, forcing Federico into an early retirement from bootlegging, though he remains an active enforcer for the Corno enterprise
- As the Corno Family expands its business in no small part thanks to Federico, the Morettis move shop to Lower Manhattan
- Moretti's Meats soon becomes the cover for the now legendary "Corno Deliveries", whether or not Mad Dog came up with the idea himself is a point of speculation amongst the families
- In 1931, after serving under Umberto Corno since the family's inception, Federico is inducted into the Mafia, a made man
- Umberto's Mad Dog has since remained as his personal Soldato, one of the most respected figures in the Corno Hierarchy and one of the most feared names amongst the other families[/indent][/hider]
