Shadows of the Past[/color][/i][/b][/h3]

This name may be familiar to some. It's the name of an RP I did about a year ago now. However, over the course of the RP many things went wrong, and I kept changing the idea for the RP. After some time and thought, I closed the RP and put it behind me. But there has always been a nagging feeling that makes me wonder what could have been... So, after some work on the lore and story, a complete overhaul of the previous characters, and an actual timeline for the RP, I think it's finally time...

The New Shadows of the Past will be taking place in an AU Timeline of mine. Following after the story of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, this takes the place of the Story of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. Here is a summary of the history of this AU:

"This story begins hundreds of years ago, near the beginning of our existence. Arceus had created our world, and our ancestors along with it. In order to help ensure peace, he created what would become known as the Legendary Pokemon. As the world and Pokemon continued to grow and evolve, the number of Legendary Pokemon also grew to match. The first group became known as the Legendary Council, and the rest were Legendary Protectors."

"However, Mewtwo, one of the Protectors, never seemed happy with the arrangement. While he never expressed it publicly, he wanted to be on the Council, to be a real leader. One day it seemed he had snapped, as he stormed the Temple of Legends and demanded his appointment to the Council. Arceus denied him, revoked his status as a Legendary Protector, and banished him to the far reaches of the world. This... would be his deepest regret..."

"Within months, Mewtwo had amassed an army of followers, and declared war on All Legendary Pokemon who did not side with him. This conflict would become known as The Great War. For years Mewtwo and the Council battled across the globe, until he was finally defeated by one he once called his brother, Mew."

"With the threat passed, the Legendary Pokemon found themselves weakened physically and emotionally from the war. Arceus realized the mistake he had made, and departed, angry with himself and his misjudgement. Without his leadership, the Council fell apart, and the Legendary Pokemon split into smaller groups, some going as far as to cut all contact with one another."

"The years passed, and the world had grown to live without the protection and guidance of the Legendary Council. Then, unexplainable events began to unfold. Strange places that became known as Mystery Dungeons began to appear across the world, and it seemed the very balance of the world was in danger. Many times this would occur, with humans appearing to save their world as Pokemon alone could not."

"When Legendary Pokemon began being targeted by unknown foes, many realized an ancient prophecy was coming to light. The Mewtwo that had started The Great War was returning. Arceus himself returned, and reformed the Legendary Council in response. He was determined not to make the same mistake again. However, he could not stop the start of what would be known as The Second Great War."

"For years once more a battle would rage between Mewtwo and his followers, and the Legendary Council and their followers. In an epic showdown in the final hours of the war, Mewtwo would be defeated by a Team of Legendary Pokemon who had come together and reawakened the one who had defeated him before, Mew. However, even with his defeat, Mew knew that his brother would not stop until he had won, or had been destroyed. They would be ready..."

The Roleplay will be taking place about ten years from that point. There has been relative peace across the globe, but there was still common events such as the Mystery Dungeons and Outlaws. There had been no sign of Mewtwo, and many believed he had perished after the Final Battle. However, whispers are starting to float about, concerning signs of Mewtwo's return. As those whispers begin to reach the ears of a veteran from the Second Great War, he knows the day is approaching that he has been dreading...

Since this RP will be taking place instead of PSMD, some things will be changing lore wise to fit with the AU Lore. A few examples as follows:

- Emeras and Looplets still exist, with an explanation of them being remains of shattered Mega Stones.

- The Towns and Organizations from PSMD still exist.

- Mega Evolution is Achievable through either an Awakening, which is only available in a Dungeon, or a Mega Stone, which allows the holder to Mega Evolve anywhere.

Alright. I think that just about covers the basics for this Interest Check. If I get enough Interest for this, I'll get a character sheet out for you guys to submit some characters. If we get enough characters, I'll throw up an OP and we can get the ball rolling!
