"Not necessarily.  An early 500 horsepower viper engine costs more than a 600hp 427 big block chevy.  The viper for the 8 liter V10 costs 35 grand, the modern 427 big block is 27 grand.  The reason this engine costs so much is because it is a technologically advanced engine.  I actually got the engine in my camaro initially for 500 bucks."
