I've been a fan of the Monster Hunter franchise ever since I first played the MH4U demo, and an idea for a RP has been bouncing around in my brain like a Level 3 Normal Shot (sorrynotsorry for the crappy analogy). This would have a maximum of five players total-- four hunters, and possibly one other person to play the monsters the hunters run up against. This RP would take place in an alternate timeline, and have as many monsters from the games as possible, within biological sense. In addition to this, I'll be introducing and mixing in a few more ideas, both original(-ish) and from the expanded universe. This includes monsters only seen in the manga, anime, and spin-off games, as well as the concept of Monster Riders, albeit without having Ride Monsters be exactly like the Monsties from Monster Hunter Stories; in addition, certain collaboration materials/items (ie- Legend of Zelda, Universal Studios Japan, Uniqlo, etc.) will be able to be used.
The more original(-ish) idea I have [sub][s]basically rips off Pokemon ReBurst and Digimon Frontier[/s][/sub] is something called MonSoul. Many monsters create gems in their bodies through various means (examples include Rathian Rubies, and Bird Wyvern Gems), and upon death, the essence of their being is contained within them. However, if an individual monster is strong enough, the soul itself is absorbed into the crystal. It wasn't until relatively recently that the MonSoul was discovered. Over a decade of in-depth research showed that humans, Wyverians, and other races could harness the power of the MonSoul, and take on characteristics of the monsters from which the gem came. While granting increased strength, speed, and damage resistance, the MonSoul is still alive within the gem, and some weaker-minded hunters have been taken over by their MonSoul. As a general rule the more powerful the monster that the MonSoul comes from, the more difficult it is to control; as of yet, nobody has successfully maintained their sanity when trying to wield the MonSoul of an Elder Dragon.
At this point, I would like to ask anyone interested to visit the Wikia and suggest monsters you'd like to see in the field guide. Some monsters will automagically be in the guide (Rathalos and Rathian, as well as all of their Variants, Subspecies, Rare Species, Deviants, and Lone Species, for example), but I want to flesh this world out as much as possible. Hell, if a fan-made monster/subspecies is suggested for the field guide, it could very well wind up in the wild! :sun So this is the foundation of my plan. Any takers?
