Hi! I would like to join this! Pirouette said this was loads of fun. Hope the character's alright. That pretty much sums up Marion's behavior and decisions. Though there is quite a lot more than that in a person, even one that seems as shallow as out self-righteous friend here. Quite the unassuming narcissist, proud of her lineage before anything else, Marion is a very difficult person to like. She's either far too centered in what she likes and what she does to listen to others, or will underline how much people around her need to stop thinking they're worth more than what she estimates them to be. Coupled with a tryhard desire to be the center of attention, it is a mystery as to how someone hasn't delivered her a soul ripping slap already. She is a massive control freak, and will never take no for an answer. Differing opinions make her fume, and any trace of resistance is quickly strangled by her violent will. There is a compulsive desire to have things go her way, and she is prone to breaking down completely if things slip through her fingers. It is quite the pathetic sight to behold when that happens. Behind her slightly tyrannical and condescending stance on anything not regarding her, there is a massive amount of insecurity to be found underneath her rigid and foul shell. Arrogance and mean-spirited hide a a gargantuan fear of failing and not coming to par with the standards she deems to be what others expect of her. Marion HAS to be the best. So much so this endeavor has become quite the self-destructive one.
[BACKSTORY]
Fifth child of the Stieglitz family. A family well known for having a large majority of their members occupy positions given only to the elites or to accomplish feats recognized on a global scale. Her eldest sibling, her brother Gerard, remains a top executive in Europe's central bank, while the second oldest, her sister Giselle, is one of the only females in La Légion d'Honneur. Quirks are almost always utilized to ease their access to these prestigious positions, as well as resources. But they all made it through their own abilities, in the end. The family never shoehorns their success. That is their pride. Marion is born of her Stieglitz mother and a Japanese male model. She never married to keep the name pristine, and the girl's conception had for only goal to insure descendance and create the coveted 'white-Asian' baby so many westerns went crazy over in the time. Anyway, Marion is born as the fifth child, and like the others, will be pressured to succeed as they did. As a child, many extracurricular activities were imposed in her daily life in order to 'mold' her and give her the 'tools' to succeed. With her quirk not being as linear as those of her siblings, she's had far more trouble utilizing it to her advantage. It started off as flaccid, boring strings! An inferiority complex was quickly developed, which in turn would have her lash out on those she sees under her. Marion would nonetheless attempt her best to reach out in any possible outlet to see where her talents and abilities can be utilized to secure her honor as a Stieglitz. At the age of 14, she departed for Japan where hopefully she could build a career in entertainment. Though so far she'd hit rock bottom with her poor communication skills. Bad decisions would mark how current lifestyle. If it weren't for her family's resources she'd certainly be broke on the streets. With the recent discharge of Kira Nomo, it seems as though Quirks are being cracked down in competitions more and more. Someone's got a long way to go.
[QUIRK]
String Theory - The ability to generate filaments of various sizes and density. Generally emitted from the tip of one's fingers, the can also be spawned from various other areas of the body, including the feet and joints. However hands gain priority due to the larger control they offer to the user. These strings are often so minuscule, one would require an ability to see them. A rather open ended ability, and one difficult to master. Marion has a tendency to utilize it as a form of parasitic means to seize and control bodies or objects remotely, as if manipulating them from afar. Control over an individual is only possible of they're far too worn out or dead. Nonetheless, she is definitely capable of using her 'marionettes' with enough fluidity to make them appear as though they were human, minus perhaps a few oddities. The more she holds, however, the less precise and efficient they get. This can also be used to greatly enhance the capabilities of an ally, allowing them access movements humanly impossible without third party input Now, when it comes to offensive capabilities, Marion hasn't developed them all too much. Their cutting ability is akin to a carbon wire, with enough friction they can very much sever limbs, but this would often require strength and resistance she will rarely have in her disposal. A large amount of wires can be used to form shapes, and with complex enough structure, they can oppose assaults from the likes of bullets and blades. Nonetheless they remain frail to repeated assaults. If surrounded by many large edifices or pillar-like structures, Marion can use her own body as a form of puppet and simulate flight, either by pulling herself up or creating complex sets of nets she'd walk upon. She is inexperienced in the area of using these strings on her body beyond that. They are massively inefficient against repeated attacks and will quickly give out. She can't just immediately spawn more, and is often very much vulnerable when her defenses are brought down. Oh yeah any wire that can actually harm is visible. They're far darker than the harmless, support or puppeteering ones. Distance in which the threads can go varies, though control is inevitably weaker and the threads are far less robust the farther they go. As for the weight they can hold, nothing beyond what she could lift with both arms. (This thing is pretty hard to balance, as it's generally shown as absurdly OP in media. But it's a cool and fun power, so I'll take what's suggested.)
[SKILLS]
Dexterous - While a side-effect of her Quirk, she has also been quite the adept at the Piano since a young age. She tends to thrive in activities involving her hands, such as drawing. Multitasking - Just like the above, her quirk pushes her to utilize her mental capacities to focus on various things at once. Very useful for cooking! Rich - Born as a Stieglitz, she has access to many resources. She's lived in France's luxuries for most of her life too, making her bilingual to French and Japanese. English is a must in the family.
[SAMPLE POST]
It was in some penthouse, a messy one, that Petersen would be delivering a letter to the fifth child of Jeanne Stieglitz. The teenage menace that had slumbered on the cleanest couch among the others riddled with beer cans and pizza would be awakened far too early for an appropriate behavior to be adopted. The American clock on the DVD player said 8:00. AM or PM? She hadn't a clue. Then drapes completely concealed the windows. It'd either be way too early or way too late for her to wake up at this point. Groggy as ever, Marion eventually mellowed out from her wasted state. She could only muster a dull stare for poor Petersen to enjoy. With an uncertain gait and the messenger realizing the existence of a phallic shape drawn in black marker on her cheek, the man would uncomfortably present the letter to the lass. "What the fuck is this?" Nonchalantly she'd grab the invitation. Long, painted nails would pry the sheet open, making quite the mess in the process. Blue eyes with nothing but black circles surrounding them would slowly absorb the contents of the message. After a first reading, she'd squint. This warranted a second wave of analysis. Word by word, the hungover teen finally was able to make sense of it. And all it would prompt would be a vein budging out of her temple. Someone of her name was recruited to be taught how to be some hero? Really? "Out." A murderous glare was sent Petersen's way. Not a single word was uttered by the lad, and yet she was already set on terrifying him. This sucked, however. Her ego felt struck. An irrational reaction and visualization of the situation. Many could see it as recognition of her potential, but Marion only saw it as pity. She did not need 'help'. But alas, as she'd look at the trashed penthouse she had rented, she'd realize just how low she had sunken. How far she'd be from reaching the goals she promised herself. This was humiliating. But she was desperate, and they probably knew this. One wouldn't have to be a genius to know Marion was on a path she would likely be unable to step out of without help.
[OTHERS]
Will play Moonlight Sonata for free.
