[@Metronome] So he himself does not have powers? That is fine I just wanted it to be clear. Did he have any other kind of magic such as clerical magic? 

The only things that wouldn't work is that since this is a fantasy setting there wouldn't be a "catholic" church necessarily but replace that with Pelor or something similar and it works as a cleric build. If you want to have zero magic all together then that is also fine.
