Her parents had demanding, long hair to braid each morning, on top of balancing work with the upcoming parent-teacher interviews. A sibling had exam woes to dread about.

It was their night-to-night activities that differed from most. But the Ruths had one rule to keep themselves in check: no leaving the house after 7:00pm unless you eat dinner with the family and at the table first.[/i]
