The blaze behind him cast long, dancing shadows around the room, hunched over his father in his bed as he was, leaning, straining to hear the whip thin tone of his lord’s weakening voice. “Wealth and power… son. The Xems have both. Serve them. Serve them as I did. The cluster. It will prosper.” Klosk wiped his hair off of his face, exposing slate grey eyes beneath. They narrowed. “My lord father,” He began, his voice barely above a whisper. “Sabox is a weak ruler. Our forces are already poised to strike. Even now the fleet continues to grow, soon it shall be double-” Klosk was interrupted by the bony hand that suddenly gripped him, caught off guard. “No!” The lord of Alatari rasped, and for a moment the old steel returned to his voice, and Klosk was yet again nothing more than a wide eyed youth, fearing his father’s wrath. “You are not lord yet, child. Sabox may be blind to his fate, but I am not. Marshall the forces, yes. But do not march, not to war, not anywhere. The fleet does not leave Nor’dun. Repeat.” Klosk blinked slowly, glimmers of comprehension dawning on his features. “The fleet does not leave Nor’dun.” Lord Charle nodded once, the barest incline of his chin, satisfied. “You believe that Reva will succeed.” Again, his lord father nodded, his drawn lips quirking slightly. “He would make a strong leader. One that House Charle would be proud to follow.” Lord Reiko Charle nodded with approval. “You are much like Reva, and I much like Sabox. No, don’t start to protest. For years you’ve ruled in my stead, as I laid here, taken by the wasting disease. Reva will need allies he can count on. Centuries ago the Charles were called on, when the Xems first rose to power. Now, we are called on again. Called on to do nothing. This victory must belong to Reva alone, if he is to inspire confidence in the lords. When lords refuse to bend the knee, and make no mistake, some will refuse, Reva will look to his allies, to House Charle, and find a fleet thrice the size he expected ready to serve his will. This is what we must be ready for, Klosk. If civil war breaks out, full blown war, the Charles will be ready. And if Reva proves to be as weak as Sabox… then we are prepared for that too. Begone now, son of mine. My voice is ran raw.” “As it pleases you, your lordship.” His lord father spoke sense, Klosk decided as he left the bedchambers.

Beneath all of Klosk’s finery is a muscular, chiseled, body capable of strength and speed that surpasses that of most men. He has hard eyes, eyes that always seem to be brooding, whenever attention isn’t cast his way. A commanding presence such as Klosk’s requires a commanding voice to pair, and his delivers. A resonant baritone that demands attention whenever heard, nothing about Klosk remains unimposing. As sheer as Klosk can seem to be, he is not without warmth or humor when in the presence of those he does not dislike, and a Charle never forgets their friends.

Bred, born, and raised to rule, Klosk was the only male heir Lord Reiko Charle ever sired, and as such had ample time to give him, teaching him the fine points of lordship and command. When Klosk was twenty, Lord Charle began to succumb to the wasting disease, and more often than not it was Klosk that was seen at council and at court in his father’s stead. Shortly before Reva Xem III took the throne, Reiko Charle was pronounced dead, and Klosk Charle ascended to proper lordship over his dominion. Under Klosk’s rule, the military and economy alike boomed. As Stallis Janros would often jest, everyone wanted to be friends with whomever held the biggest stick. As it happened, a powerful fleet and the new emperor’s backing proved to be a rather formidable piece of timber. Its two habitable moons, Sevyari (Sev-yar-ee), and Serenaya (Sar-eh-nai-ya), have far less treacherous geography, acting as the agricultural powerhouses of the system. A third moon, Serat (Seh-rot), as well as Alatari itself, are rich in mineral deposits. The entire cluster has known only progress since its indoctrination by Charle rule. Vast underground cities span Alatari, with mining outposts going even deeper. The twin sisters Sevyari and Serenaya would be the countryside of the cluster, orchards and fields rich in produce flourishing across the surface. The lone brother, Serat, harbors much of the cluster’s military vessels, the whole planet acting as House Charle’s primary military base. Massive ion cannons dot its surface. Alatari and its moons contained no sapient lifeforms upon House Charle’s arrival centuries ago, and while in the eyes of the law all species are second among equals in the presence of the ruling class, the general composition of the Alatari Cluster remains predominantly human.

The Desideria
(Des-ih-dare-ee-ah) Heavily armored, heavily shielded, and armed to the teeth with heavy weaponry, the Desideria stands as a staunch reminder of Alatarian might. While dotted in laser turrets capable of dealing high precision damage to anything that gets too close, the massive ion cannons mounted on the front and either side of the ship are its true claim to fame. The ionic energy lays waste to any and all electronic systems it strikes, as well as killing or paralyzing any humans that it passes through. The Desideria is capable of rendering ships greater than it useless in an instant, if the cannons are given enough time to charge up. Two smaller, albeit still formidable versions of the spacecraft often follow the Desideria into battle, known respectively as the right and left wings.
Tyrellins
(Teer-eh-lin) These heavy fighters are the backbone of the Alatarian fleet, disabling critical systems with their ion cannons and delivering their lighter counterparts onto the field. Due to the Fleet’s lack of any kind of dreadnought class ship, save for the Desideria, the Tyrellins are incredibly numerous on the battlefield to make up for this; far less are needed to go toe to toe with larger vessels. They are equipped with cloaking systems.
Rorites
(Roar-ite) Sacrificing better armor and shielding for cloaking and incredible mobility, the Rorites swarm the cosmos like some robotic insectoid mass upon a corpse of desolate ships. If the Tyrellins can leave a ship dead in the water, the Rorites are piranhas come to pick the body clean. Nine powerful laser cannons are the pinnacle of its design, cloaking tech allowing the lasers to draw close enough to do serious damage to any unshielded craft in the gunner’s sights.

- Lady Reika Charle, Lord Klosk Charle’s sister - Stallis Janros, Spymaster - Zaviah Cosima Valrathii, Lord Klosk Charle’s personal guard
