Combat should still come across as difficult for players depending on the situation. You shouldn't have to roll a dice to figure out if you can successfully swat a fly. But auto-hitting major monsters or enemies would be frowned upon. Auto-hitting a rabbit you want to cook for dinner is totally cool. And for players who don't want to do the dice rolling for character creation, I can do it for them and they can just assign their stats as they want after that. I want to use the D&D character sheets because they can help equal out and round out an adventuring party. Bob the human warrior might be able to break a lock open but Sarah the half-elf rogue might be able to quickly pick it.
