My only reservation with starting from scratch is that you don't improve all that much other than the GPU. Processor technology has been kind of stagnant (though recently, there's been some mumbling about a potential uproar in that field), motherboards only change to adapt to new ports, and RAM speeds won't affect gaming performance. You'd get essentially the same boost with nothing but a GPU upgrade. If you have your heart set on a new build, I can help you, but if all you care about are sheer performance gains at a decent price, you can go straight GPU.
