Well, we can't make everything as simple as 'point-pull-destroy' or where would the threat be?
I'm a bit more curious about unconventional tech; biotic enhancements like gene manipulation/test-tube soldier's...or if I dare to tease the 'fantasy' tag, psyonics? If even exparimental.

How would mankind endeavor to overcome (essentially) demons if not try to understand and adapt their power?

Maybe on a small scale, but I'm just spitballing.
