Well, to reproduce, that could be simulated could it not? And I believe that the humans could have developed some sort of AI self - evolving program which evolves and adapts with time and they could set this program to imitate the human evolution, the phases we go through to reach adulthood. This is unless they are just static programs unequipped for self development/evolution so this means if they are destroyed there is no way to recreate them.
