He was left in a wooden cradle, sailing down a river, past a battlefield where it was only by a twist of fate the infant did not meet his end by a rogue kunai, shuriken or jutsu that hit the water. He was found by an old fisherman, Imo, from a small village in the land of Rain. Imo took him in, and named him Kaido, after a dog he had as a child - a dog he had also found by chance. Imo raised Kaido like his own, having always wished for a son, but he never was fortunate enough to have any offspring. The love of his life had died when Imo was but a young man, and his heart had never mended. When Kaido was three years old, it became obvious that Kaido had a gift - he never forgot anything, he had what was known as "Total recall", being able to recall events in the most minute details. He raised Kaido to be a hardworking, honest young boy, scolding him when he stole from the other people in the village, but encouraged him to always try his best, and to always try and help others. Imo and Kaido took care of several wounded soldiers that made their way to their village, usually just smaller wounds. Offering tired warriors a warm meal - fish and potato, and a soft bed. Imo told Kaido he was a special child, that he was fated for greatness, and he should not squander his destiny living in this village, and when he was old enough, he should head out into the world on his own, carve his own path. Kaido was let out alone into the world much sooner than either him or Imo could have imagined, as that very fall, their village became the front line between shinobi, the hidden Leaf's Senju Clan were fighting other nations soldiers, slaughtering them by the dousins, but in the crossfire, their small village was ruined, and Kaido's fate was sealed as a massive ball of fire came flying towards him, standing out in the middle of the street in front of his house. He closed his eyes and held his arms in front of his face, when a warm sensation hit him, and then a heavy weight that pushed him to the ground. In front of him stood Imo, blocking the fireball with his own body, dying from the injuries, as he protected Kaido from the blast - a smile on his face. "You're gonna blow us all away, Kid." Imo were his last words, tears streaming down his face with his last breath. Kaido survived the battle, but once again an orphan. Time and time again he found himself in the crossfire of battles, always surviving by chance - but soon that changed, and it became from his own doing. Like Imo had, he picked up a fishing harpoon, sharpening the metal object into a spear, he began learning how to fend for himself. Using his unique gifts, he began to recall the traumatic events of his past, and the more he tried to focus on his past, he clearer his memories became. Mimicing what the ninja he had seen battle, he soon began learning basic combat strategies. His life truly began to turn around after a particular battle - another one with the Senju, where the commander of the battle, a Senju - Toji Senju, was seen dashing in flashes of light across the battle, dealing one swift strike after the other. His jutsu was unmatched, and Kaido would not rest till he too had achieved that power. He began collecting mementos from the battles he witnessed, collecting weapons, armors, scrolls and other equipment. From them, he began to become a self taught shinobi, his own personal grove - on a small island in the land of waves, began filling up with things he had collected over the years was now a training ground, where he began experimenting with the things he had found. At the age of 14, he was finally able to stand up in a fight, no longer relying on tricks to fight shinobi, he was able to hold his own in a battle, his harpoon in his main hand, aided by a small arsenal of a wide variety of weapons - all of which he had grown increasingly proficient at. His jack Of all trades -style of fighting made him unpredictable, and able to fend off foes much more powerful than himself. His forte became clear once he learned the summoning technique and the ideas of nature and shape transformation. By the age of 16, he had created a imitation of the jutsu the Senju had used so many years ago, the ability to be at more places at once - instant movement.
