Combat never got less scary, even if you were a veteran. One could always lose their life and what happened to D'ren proved that right. Even so, Gunter was amazed by how light they got off. Even if losing D'ren was a massive blow to their mission, Gunter expected much worse. Usually when a squad is caught out by the Mire like that.....they never return. Though the strategy that the others employed was Gunter's Plan B, he was going to go further to eliminate the enemy, though this worked out for now and would allow them time to prepare for the law enforcers to come again, this time on their terms, not the law enforcers. Though if they were smart, the law enforcers would attack when they were weakest, most likely traveling or having got out of a tough fight. He was going to have to be on guard after every fight until they were eliminated. Regardless, Gunter went along with Julia, observing her more carefully. He did not like her leadership, but maybe she could be molded into something better after what he saw. He made a note to talk to her later and not let his sudden disappearance of his equipment be a factor, though Gunter still had the drilled-in fear of his commanders giving him a hiding for losing his equipment. Still, you don't piss off the quartermaster, and Gunter kept with this logic..for now. However, now that he looked at the forest Gunter was reminded of the terrible sickness of his world. It might as well be a plague, but no one knew what it was really. The Mire, nicknamed the "Death Swamp" and the name suited it perfectly. Gunter kept control over himself, though nasty memories were brought up. He recalled there was a girl he rescued from the Mire in his career that has bugged him ever since that fateful day. He allowed her to live at his house in the Capital, though even the Capital itself was under siege daily. It was a wonder how any of the Cenithians live through it going with their daily business, but they did. It showed the nation's dedication to their country and their Empress, the most powerful mage and fighter to ever exist in Cenith. Gunter seen the Empress in action before, and he knew immediately that those "law enforcers" he fought would have been turned into dust in an instant without so much as a scratch on the forest with her power. However, she leads their nation, Gunter only leads a platoon. So why him? There had to be a reason, but Gunter was not going to find out anytime soon. Entering the city and hearing Julia's explanation, Gunter took off his helmet and his rebreather. It was uncomfortable and he had the strangest feeling that the Enforcers wouldn't attack here. What was revealed underneath all of that armor was a man's face, but one who has seen horrors unimaginable and who has lost a lot that was dear him. It was the face of a man who fought not for glory, but for his family and country. A man who was experienced and jaded. All of the city was so beautiful that if he was back on his world Gunter would think that the Mire was playing tricks with him. However, he now knew better so instead Gunter pulled out a picture to gaze upon when they had a moment's respite to help calm his nerves and remind him of what he was fighting for. Then, Gunter smiled. It was a rare smile for a man like him, who knew the horrors of war and was on the receiving end daily. It was the girl that he rescued who gave him the picture, but for some reason he liked her. That damned Felinus. Bet you are still waiting for me back home. He put away the picture when the chief came up. "Chief, no hard feelings. You were doing your duty." It was all Gunter wanted to say him, but now he had to make requisitions. Aside from his normal explosive equipment, Gunter wanted a few....specialty equipment if she can provide. Ming announced she was wounded, but Gunter did not have his water orbs in his bracelet, so he could not do much about that. Thankfully, Aeris took care of it and so Gunter did not have to. However, he noted Ming's behavior to be somewhat....revengeful, as if she were looking for those that attacked her. He knew that feeling well enough, as Gunter experienced it with the Collads. However, they were now the Empire's allies whether Gunter liked it or not. Gunter decided to tell her as Aeris was treating her "Let it go. They were only doing their duty and you were as well. The enemy yesterday could be your ally tomorrow." After that, Gunter walked away now focusing on requisitions with Julia. Orbal Fiber- A type of weave for uniforms in Gunter's world. This type of uniform allows for the wearer to move freely as if they were in clothing but gain the protection of light armor, made from the magical resource that could be weaved into the clothing, making it durable and protective. It is only available to the elite or the wealthy. Usually worn underneath heavier armor such as Gunter's grenadier armor. Speciality Ammo- Gunter wants ammunition that will both fit his assault rifle and give them a boost in combat. Rounds include more penetrative ammo, healing ammo(shoot someone, they are healed), incendiary rounds, and Earthen rounds(Great against unarmored targets). If Gunter could get what he calls "Time rounds"(Age enemies into dust!) he would be extremely happy. More Orbs for the bracelet- Gunter's bracelet works in a unique way. With eight slots, Gunter's bracelet allows many passive benefits(as well as his ability for magic, or "Arts depending on the number he has in his bracelet) depending on the orb gems he has with a maximum of four of a same element at a time allowed in the bracelet. Currently he only has three of each of the four main elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. There are two more elements, Time and Space, but Gunter is unsure if he can acquire them at this time. Right now, Gunter just wants to finish his sets to allow himself to have four orbs in play at a time if necessary. Armor and weapons for Patricia- And of course, Gunter wants some infantry armor for Patricia as well as giving her a little more firepower. He figures the standard-issue Infantry armor and Royal Army rifle will do nicely, unless she has objections. Anti-Personnel mines- Self-explanatory.
