Such rudeness should be a most intolerable offense in any decent society... his partner chimed, though Inanna shook his head. He wasn’t entitled to anyone else’s time! The voice churned out to continue the debate before Inanna noticed… something. He looked away, prompting his partner to ask if he was even paying attention, followed by silence. The sky was coated in some strange form of creature neither of them had seen before. It was hard to get a good look at any one of them, but when Inanna focused, he could discern that they seemed to be made of metal, and they looked like they were holding those “firearm” things that he trained against a couple of times. He watched them for a moment. Bring one here... He nodded, opening a portal near him connected to one in the path of the drones. One flew through the portal... Only to keep going and crash against the nearby wall. Inanna jumped in shock for a moment before closing the portal and making sure it was okay. It shuddered weakly, sparks flying from it for a moment before it ceased. Do not worry yourself, the voice chided. They are but thoughtless constructs, not fit to stand up to a mere human, let alone our divine majesty! Inanna thought about protesting this for but a moment before his thoughts were interrupted by a hail of bullets around him. A few stung against his ki guard before he dived sideways and opened a portal above his head to redirect the gunfire, connected to one facing down over the mechanical swarm. “We should probably leave!” Inanna said as a few more robots flew into the ground around him. No, the voice commanded. They are clearly after something in the arena. We must examine this situation more closely. We may not get another chance! The voice was absolutely awash with relish, more than Inanna had heard from it ever before, and he decided to obey it. He heard explosions on the roof, and warped up there to investigate. He began to regret the decision as he was met with another barrage of gunfire, wincing at the pain. He put up a portal guard to protect his flanks, deterred some robots with a few swings of his staff, and dived into a roll to evade some extra fire. He actually felt a little cool pulling off that move… until he realized he fell into a hole in the roof. He cried out for a moment before he shortened his otherwise devastating fall with a well-placed portal to the ground, off to the side of the arena. He sighed contentedly for a moment, willing to ignore the fighting of the robots for just a moment while he regained his composure… Until a far larger robot dropped from the ceiling, looking like some sort of large spider, perhaps. He watched in curiosity as the robot summoned a large black orb… and he was suddenly lifted off of his feet. Stay on your guard, you fool! Inanna swung his staff at the ground, being lucky enough to catch one of its hooked ends on some part of the stands. He spent a few moments scrambling to steady his grip before he turned back, noticing that part of the machine’s armor had fallen off, and that some other Nomads weren’t nearly as lucky with the whole gravity well situation. Realizing that he didn’t have a very good way to help them, he decided to open a portal near him connected to the area in front of the exposed machinery. He let his legs fall through the portal and began kicking at the incomprehensible inner layer of the robot. Not all that hard, but he could have sworn he heard something crackling a couple times. Maybe. He was helping, right?
