Bruce Wayne and Alfred were horrified to find the bodies of Robin [Damian], Nightwing, and Red Hood hanging from the roof of the Bat-Cave with the words "I AM BANE" written in blood across their bodies. Bruce didn't speak for over a day. Bane had to go down, but even Batman wasn't sure he could take him in alive. Not after this. Days later, a video was left on the door of Wayne Manor. Batgirl was taken. Even after she'd left the city.

"You didn't think I was done did you?" Bane asked with a laugh with a helpless Barbera Gordon behind him bound to a chair and gagged with her own mask. "I figured.. hey, the other three went down pretty quickly. I didn't even have to break their backs. The little guy was a fighter though. This one however..." he continued motioning towards Batgirl and stroking her hair, "... too pretty to kill that fast. You got any more sidekicks Bruce? What about that stupid butler of yours, Pennyworth?  I bet he'd make a nice punching bag."

"You probably know what I'm going to do." Bruce said cutting the video off.

"The man is a monster, master Bruce. You're only doing what you think is necessary." Alfred said in response. 

"I need to put a team together, keep the boys' deaths secret for now. There has to be a way to bring them back, Alfred. It looked like they were all cut with the same blade, maybe one of the magical allies of the League could use that..." Bruce continued. 

"Then find Bane, and figure out where the blade is. Once it's done you do what you must." Alfred got to the point. Bruce always appreciated his opinion on such things as he'd worked for the British intelligence bureau and helped Batman become a master in make-up and disguise. 

"I need to put a team together quick." Bruce stated.

In the comics there are quite a few heroes and villains to come out of Gotham and surrounding cities like Bludhaven and Hub City. You can reimagine one of the existing ones, create an original character, or even be a cop from the GCPD. Whoever you are you will have presumably been friends with Batman to a certain degree. Or he knows you won't hold back on Bane and his goons, which is what the situation may call for. This is Batman over the edge but still trying to keep his wits about him. He can't involve the League if he's taking Bane down for good, but maybe somebody like Fate, Zatanna, or Constantine could use this blade to magic the boys back to life. Who will Batman recruit? Where will Bane be hiding? 

The only bone I can throw anybody is the gang of Robins [from the series We Are Robin] has already been a thing for some three years now, but Duke never became a sidekick. Some of you could have ties to that group. Now for obvious reasons, Batman's not gonna let some new kid call themselves Nightwing or Robin on this team. Don't bother trying to sell me on it. Metahumans can be acceptable so long as the powers aren't too grande, as well as a reforming super criminal [like Clayface in recent issues of Detective Comics]. And I'll likely accept one magical character hero or villain but they have to be able to cast spells and not just powers from a magical artifact. Second or third string heroes could also be reimagined but I'm not looking for stuff that's too flashy. Core Justice Leaguers would be off limits, but the Outsiders and other heroes of Gotham affiliated with Batman could be in on this. 

Anyway, as always, if there's enough interest I'll post Character Sheet requirements. Anybody wanna hunt down a behemoth of a man on super steroids who's got Batgirl hostage? And hopefully save the lives of Batman's sidekicks.
