Former man with an un-shot face. Still 100% the Hero of this story

[30's | Human | Borderlands 2- Pandora | Male]

APPEARANCE, PERSONALITY, & BACKGROUND

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE Handsome Jack is a tall, slender man with short slick brown hair, Caucasian skin, and hetero-chromatic eyes, one blue the other green. He possesses a gaunt, but lean physical build with noticeably toned upper and lower body muscles. A band-like tattoo encircles his right right in light, somewhat faded blue ink. The man walks around with a profound air of confidence. Always sporting a cocky and suave smile. He is, for a lack of a better word, handsome. Which is probably why it's in his name. However Jack is not quite the good looking man he appears to be. If someone looks closely they can see metal plates on the edges of his rugged, strong chinned face. That's because Handsome Jack is wearing a bio-flesh mask replica of his very own face. Beneath the mask he is horribly scarred with a warped U-shaped brand burned deep into his flesh, disfiguring him and blinding one eye (only having use of both of his eyes thanks to the mask). PERSONALITY ASPECTS Handsome Jack is...

Confident, if not outright arrogant
Intelligent
Witty with a sharp, mocking sense of humor
Quick to anger and rather vindictive
Mistrustful on the verge of paranoia
Selfish
Heroic, or at least thinks he is
Has difficulties accepting fault and admitting when he is wrong.
Currently haunted by regret and guilt, not that he'll ever admit it.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION Handsome Jack, once upon a time, was "Jack". A virtual nobody. He was a low-level programmer for the Hyperion Corporation with a fucked up daughter, a dead wife, and very little career prospects beyond being a code monkey in a company of cutthroats. He grew up on Pandora, a booby trapped hellhole of a planet filled with monsters, psychopaths, murderous bandits, and enough buried alien technology to attract a rainbow of asshole treasure hunters. Despite suffering a lot as he grew up Jack was ambitious and noble. He wanted to fix Pandora. He wanted to help people. He wanted to be the hero. So he concocted a plan. Using his daughter, a powerful Siren, and a Hyperion satellite, he would trick four greedy Vault Hunters into opening an alien Vault and killing the Guardian inside. Using a part of the dead Guardian he'd make a weapon strong enough to raze every bandit camp off the face of Pandora till it was clean and peaceful enough to be a paradise. Things were going pretty well till the weapon was hijacked. Hiring a group of mercenaries to get it back he was betrayed and the weapon was destroyed. In his effort to discover the location of a new weapon to tame Pandora he entered an alien vault where an artifact allowed him to caught a glimpse of exactly what he needed. Before he could fully absorb the information the artifact was punched into his face, horribly deforming him. Broken from distrust he felt and the weight of what he'd gone through, Jack strove to civilize Pandora with an almost unhinged resolve. He took control of Hyperion through black mail, deceit, and the occasional bout of strangulation. Once he was in charge of Hyperion he rained down justice onto Pandora and began work to open the Vault containing the weapon he had seen. As a precaution he went out of his way to find bad ass vault hunters who could potentially open the Vault, and had them killed. This backfired as a new foursome of Vault Hunters helped the older group who had betrayed him before. Despite his best efforts they began to foil his plans. Plans that happened to heavily involve his own daughter. Seeing her father's actions and holding his captivity of her against him, Angel betrayed Jack and helped the Vault Hunters get to her. In the process she more or less committed suicide with their help, intent on foiling Jack's plans even at the cost of her own life. Watching his very own daughter die Jack few into a rage, killing one of the Vault Hunters, and capturing another (who happened to be a Siren). With his new captive he was able to open the Vault and intended to use the weapon inside to burn Pandora clean, taking the 'bandits' who had killed his daughter down in the process. However even with all his resources, his best laid plan, and a powerful alien weapon at his disposal, he was soundly defeated. Then he was shot in the head. That should have been the end of his story. After all being shot in the face was pretty final, even for Handsome Jack. Yet it wasn't. The Event that had tore apart reality and countless worlds had really screwed with things. It was as if reality had simply forgotten how things were supposed to be and just started guessing to compensate. People who were dead, deformed, reliant on something to live, suddenly weren't. Handsome Jack, being in the very dead category, woke up alive and well on the strange new world everyone else found themselves on. He was angry, confused, and had a hell of a headache. As he stumbled through the twisted, patchwork lands Jack quickly realized the world he was on wasn't any better then Pandora. In fact he was pretty sure that bits and pieces of Pandora made up the world along with countless others he didn't recognize. In his travels he saw familiar sights. Monsters, psychopaths, bandits. Nothing had changed. Except for him. During the long, lonely walk in search of civilization Jack was left to dwell on what he had done and what had happened to him. He remembered something he had said. "If you want to destroy a man you don't need to kill him, you need to kill what he loves." By Jack's very own definition he was destroyed. His plans years in the making were gone. He'd been betrayed by everyone he cared about. His own daughter killed herself. He'd even lost his own life and mind, except he didn't even get the peace of death. Part of him still hated the Vault Hunters. Hated those who had betrayed him and gotten in his ways to fix Pandora. Yet the longer he walked the more Jack began to hate himself. For all his plans, for all his talk of being the hero, he had been a god awful father. He was a hypocrite. A lunatic. No better then the people he regularly fantasized killing, which in hindsight maybe should have been telling about his state of mind. Yet despite being destroyed he was alive and had come to realize things about himself. Wherever he was it was obvious things were far from good. Slowly Handsome Jack realized that he had gotten a second chance. Not just to live, but to really be a hero. To tame and civilize a world, not for his own ego but for the benefit of others. A little delirious from lack of hydration Jack stumbled into a place called 2Fort and after filling his belly with the water available, promptly passed out. Waking up he immediately proclaimed himself mayor[s] for life[/s] and began rounding up useful people to go and search for supplies...
SKILLS, ABILITIES, & TECHNIQUES

~SKILLS~ -Programming: From a lowly code monkey to a corporate president coding his own security systems and automated weapons, Jack knows his way around a computer. He's a competent hacker, able to worm his way into well fortified security systems given the right programs and enough time. While able to write and modify various programs, especially those related to weapons and robots, he has little experience with older 'low tech' hardware. -Weapon Design: People are only reliable as you think they are, machines on the other hand are as reliable as you can make them. Being the poster child for trust issues Jack designed a lot of weapons and robots to assert his rule over Pandora. While he doesn't have a trillion dollar corporation and wage-slaves to do the actual building for him anymore, Jack is still capable of using parts and materials he can find to make some interesting stuff. -Leadership: While Jack was only voted 'Boss of the Year' unanimously because everyone knew he'd personally kill them, Jack is a surprisingly competent leader. Ignoring his own egotism and outrageous, overbearing demands he knows how to maintain order, structure people to work properly, and manage income and resources well. His own self-confidence also gives him quite a magnetic charisma. Again if you ignore the whole' vicious dictator' thing. -Research(Minor): He's by no means an egghead, but Jack is intelligent enough to research into the strange and advantageous. Given enough time he can come to understand things he otherwise has very little if any knowledge able, and come up with ways to apply them in beneficial ways. -Advanced Weapon Usage: Jack knows how to use a variety of guns, from handguns to rocket launchers. If you want to survive on Pandora that's a must. However he excels in using advanced weapons. High and exotic weapon with strange properties or energy based attacks. ~SPECIAL ABILITIES~ EXPENDABLE JACKSSETS: Using a wrist device of his own design Jack is able to digi-struct a pair of solid digital doppelgangers of his own rugged self. Guided by limited but effective artificial intelligence these two Digi-Jacks will fight and die for him, able to use weak energy attacks projected from their arms. As soon as the dopplegangers are summoned they will begin to degrade, taking damage until they dissipate all together. They make for great distractions, meat shields, and general expendable support. However once the two Jacks are destroyed or dissipate on their own (which takes roughly about 2 minutes or so) his wrist projector will enter a long cool down phase. Preventing him from abusing the ability and forcing him to save it for when it's really needed. ~Perks~ N/A ~Faults~ N/A ~Weaknesses~ Jack is someone who is very much reliant on his intelligence and toys. He can use advanced tech and weapons with a high degree of skill, but when left to fight purely on his own abilities he can be quite lacking. If his plans fail and he's forced into combat outside of his element without support, he's likely to lose despite his best efforts. His Jacksset ability is useful in a pinch, but if the wrist projector needed to digi-struct dopplegangers is destroyed he'll lose the ability. As a person Jack is a big ol' bundle of issues. He's mistrusting, selfish, paranoid, and is adamant that he is the hero regardless of the situation he is in. While he has improved significantly and become self-away of his own behavior, he can still be a very extreme and demanding individual. His past reputation has heinous dictator is likely to follow him and while steadfast in his efforts to atone for what he did, Handsome Jack is still highly unstable emotionally...
INVENTORY & EQUIPMENT

~STARTING EQUIPMENT~ Fine Clothes: A somewhat fancy, yet practical set of clothes made up of a pair of high end sneakers, long jeans, a yellow swear, a brown vest, and a blue coat. Digi-Struct Watch: A state of the art digital constructor able to create solid holographic duplicates of himself. It's fixed to his left wrist like a watch, but it can't tell the time. What? It can produce MURDEROUS CLONES, why would you even want it to tell time? It's always murder-o-clock with this thing. Photograph: A simple printed photograph, creased and worn from being folded so many times. On it is a picture Angel, Jack's daughter. If you know what's good for you, you won't touch it.
