Appearance: Kirane’s hair is naturally white and drops in slight curls to just under shoulder-length. It is often tied back in a ponytail, probably as a subtle hint that confrontation is never entirely unexpected. Her eyes used to be blue before she started her service to Elsingdar, which quickly turned them into the glowing embers they are today. Because of them, stealth and spying are two approaches she had to completely abandon. Overall, Kirane could better be described as “pretty”, rather than “beautiful”. This is in part due to her soft features: ebony skin, full cheeks and a slightly upturned nose, but also because she has never been seen to wear any makeup besides lipgloss. Her ever serious expression also stands in the way of evoking sympathy in many. Her preference for an unrefined look doesn't quite extend to her clothes which are often bright and eye-catching in varying degrees. They are heavily influenced by traditional Kyotan attires with a creative twist. Her colleagues are not quite sure whether Kirane refashions them herself or pays someone to do it, and she's doesn't have close enough friends to have shared this information with. One thing is for sure: she prioritises function and the desire to be taken seriously over conventional aesthetics and very rarely reveals any more skin than her forearms and neck, even outside of work. Her weapons can be out on display or hidden, depending on the specific mission. It should also be mentioned that Kirane is always wearing a lot of jewelry. It varies in design and purpose, with some of it being imbued or otherwise modified for communication(mpst of her earrings) or battle (some of the other pieces). The main reason for this isn't aesthetic, but defence - to lead her (potential) enemies to believe she is more or less armed than she actually is. Age: 63 Race: Elemental (air) and True Fae hybrid. Rank: Paladin of Words Personality: Kirane is extremely serious and professional. She appears calm and collected, her voice level and her words reasonable and logical. Additionally, she seems to care very little for “personal matters”, as she calls anything beyond her work duties - be they colleagues’ dramas or having a relationship of her own. She never discussed her family and why she doesn't get along with them, neither asked anyone to share their own story. As a result all the information about her own life has come to the curious from secondary sources. Kirane is a careerist and seems content to devote all her time to the Tower of Stars. Very rarely will people see her smile or joke as she seems to take life very seriously in everything she does. However, being collected does by no means imply that she is emotionless – something that comes counterintuitive at first but is something almost anyone who has worked with her can testify to. Kirane does have some anger issues which can lead her to lash out in severe ways. However, as her timing isn't completely unpredictable, that isn't necessarily a bad thing in her line of work. Some even speculate that is why she became a Paladin: purely because she couldn’t fit in any other rank. Others trust it to be a strategy which makes her one of the most successful new recruits in that cast. History: Kirane was born to one of the Tower’s previous Mistress of Sight by the name of Akime: a True Fae and an old friend of Christian Highfell. As such, the girl was involved in the Tower of Stars from birth and grew to think of it as her home. It was the home she chose to keep when she reached her adolesce and had a falling out with her mother. The girl has tried very hard to prove herself to the Tower's seniors and with time became one of its most distinguished diplomats, specialising in dealing with the more unpleasant clients – the ones that needed verbal persuasion as well as physical one. She liked working alone and always seemed to achieve her goal in the end, be it to crush any opposition or make them the Tower's allay. But Kirane’s career and ego suffered a serious blow a few months ago when one of her clients cursed her. As the symptoms took a while to manifest Kirane isn’t sure who it was exactly that placed the curse. The medical staff established it was a designer curse specifically tailored for her and thus unbreakable by anyone but the caster. Additionally, none of the people she was dealing with over the past year seems to have the abilities necessary to place it, implying that it was a mercenary who had actually inflicted it. Still, Kirane has no doubt it has to do with her job and is adamant on finding out who it was. In order to do so she had to team up with one of her colleagues who now acts as her partner and, quite subtly, as her bodyguard. This was necessary as the effect of the curse paralyses Kirane’s lungs and prevents the girl from breathing on her own. At present, a mix of technology and magic helps her stay alive but should any of the two malfunction she could die in the matter of moments. An army of nanobots stimulate the tissue of her lungs to prevent it from dying while her own amplified air magic helps circulate the air manually. While a pair of powerful amulets help enhance and stabilise Kirane's air magic, this does mean that any physical exercise she engages in shouldn’t be prolonged for more than several minutes to avoid her exhausting herself and fainting, which is also likely to happen faster than usual. Needless to say this all makes her vulnerable to an array of things but she has refused to stop working or even accept much help with the investigation. Although visually hiding it from outsiders of the Tower comes easier than hiding it from colleagues, Kirane considers the matter her own business and remarks that the Knights and Paladins should have more serious tasks to attend to. Reason for recruitment: Kirane’s mother used to be a knight herself so it was only natural for her to follow in her footsteps. Strength of Will: Greater. Magic: Kirane uses channeled magic stemming from two sources: her own genetics and Elsingdar. She is naturally gifted with the abilities to control air and light, letting her bend and change them at will. She is more proffecieny with air magic which she most often uses to defy gravity or attack. Her light manipulation is weaker but quite convenient for the casting of illusions or other distractions. Conjuration: Kirane knows the basics of this kind of magic and can summon small elementals and animate small inanimate objects (roughly the size of a big cat). Force magic: ironically this is the school she's invested the most effort in. While not intrinsically offencive, her abilities are both almost invisible, making them good weapons with some practice. Kirane can't slice a person in half with a gust of wind or turn her eyes to lasers, but she is a very quick caster and knows how to use her skills to the best of her advantage. Illusions: Kirane has decent skills in this department but rarely uses them, mostly because they take more time and concentration to execute than drawing her daggers. God relations: Elsingdar, the Light Bringer. Joined his church despite (or because of) her mother’s protests. She seems a bit inconsistent in her service. Tech: Not very proficient with tech as her mother was helpless with it herself. But luckily she had her teachers and mom’s partners to teach her. She has a pair of communication earrings and a ring used for web surfing and communication with individuals not belonging to the Tower. Possessions/items/property: Kirane owns a horse in the outskirts of Angel’s Landing. It’s quite big and part of it has been converted into a wildlife treatment center. It holds a few dozen animals at most time and has a resident veterinary and a carer on site. Kirane often goes there to help out when she has the chance but rarely spends the night. Most of the time she spends the night in the Tower but tends to disappear on short notice quite regularly. Kirane’s regular gear includes a pair of dispelling and reinforced daggers, a small revolver and technologically enchanted gloves and boots. The boots enhance her movement and reaction speed while the gloves can produce electity strong enough to knock out a grown man (of most races). Her most prized possessions are a walk-in closet and a few custom-made weapons and equipment which she keeps between her residences. Among them the most used are her fan. Kirane makes sure to use it every time she casts an air spell as a small bluff to make people think her magic is related to the item in some way. One day she’ll be in a real pinch and the effort will pay off. By necessity the design is always the same, even when the fan breaks and needs to be replaced. She resisted the temptation to request a steel frame as it would make it heavier and more inconvenient. Skills: Kirane has invested very little time in skills that aren’t directly related to her work. As such, her most important assets are connected to diplomacy and negotiation. Those include reading people and moods, gathering and analysing information, networking, intimidating and some rudimentary torturing techniques. Misc: Glowing eyes can be a nuisance.

Sirius Dylan is a water elemental and human hybrid and a Senior Knight at the Tower of Stars. He has the reputation of someone who doesn’t value life and is rather willing to enter in situations that require the infliction of physical pain but keeps the victim alive. He is very good at reading people and even better at torturing them. As such, he is often responsible for interrogations and missions that require the forceful acquisition of items or people. While those are his favorite pass-times, his magical abilities aren’t great, thus forcing him to work with others more often than not. His fellow knights are often dismissive of Sirius as a rather psychotic and unreliable individual, despite his generally friendly demeanor and the fact that he is extremely loyal to his own. Akime (born Hazumi Harwen) was the successor of Thomas Pavane as Mistress of Sight. She is a True Fae, born and raised in Zentra province, Hell. Shortly after coming to the surface, Akime changed her birthname and started travelling the world. She joined Angel’s Landing in the war against the Stygian Blade where she first encountered Christian Highfell. Decades later she joined the Tower of Stars as one of his knights. Akime is an extremely powerful individual, capable of animating armies and seeing as far as the eastern kingdoms but she has always had a very playful, almost childlike demeanor. She also has a knack for ‘collecting’ (as her daughter calls it) the spirits of her best friends. Three of them are almost always by her side – a woman called Amber (ex-human) and two men by the names of Ibuki (ex-devil) and Cole (griffin). Since retiring from her position as Mistress of Sight, the woman has gone back to roaming the globe, essentially disappearing off the radar. Some suspect that she is looking for Christian Highfell while others believe that she left due to her strained relationship with Kirane.
