Darwin is famous for coming up with Natural Selection and all that.

It's considered Natural Selection for someone to do something incredibly stupid and get severely hurt / killed from it.  Thus not being able to pass along their genes, which is what Natural Selection is all about.  The Brightest / Strongest survive.  The Weak / Stupid (generally) die and thus those poor genes stay out of the gene pool for passing on to descendants.
