It’s all for nothing anyway.”
[sub]FULL NAME[/sub]
Claudia Estella Soto
[sub]SUPER NAME[/sub]
The Hare
[sub]REVENGE OR JUSTICE[/sub]
Revenge
[sub]AGE[/sub]
19
[sub]GENDER[/sub]
Female
[sub]REPUTATION[/sub]
Claudia is, perhaps, too young to have a solid reputation in the world just yet. She had always been one of those types—especially in high school—to claim to have no plan in life, to let the current of existence take her wherever it deemed fit…or some other pseudo-intellectual bullshit like that. In reality, Claudia was known for being a bit of a lazy asshole, with a penchant for bribing others into doing her schoolwork to scrape by. Her parents never forced her to do much of anything besides pass, if they were even around. Those who saw but never engaged with her saw one of those “cool girl” types with lots of friends. Upon leaving high school, she lost contact with next to all of them.
[sub]HEIGHT[/sub]
4’11
[sub]WEIGHT[/sub]
85 lbs
[sub]APPEARANCE[/sub]
Before entering Project HYBRID, Claudia was a tall and rather lanky young woman of 5’7. Her hair was silky and black, and fell just a bit past her shoulders. Her build had always been lithe, but with underdeveloped muscles never specialized for any one thing. And then everything changed after the injections. Over the course of a long, agonizing process, Claudia felt her bones contract and shrink until she had lost eight entire inches of her former height. As though that were not humiliating enough, her front teeth fell out and were replaced by long, obnoxious buck teeth. Her ears closed, skin folding over her suddenly bald head—at first she thought she’d be deaf forever, until the holes opened once more in the wrong place. Long ears soon sprouted from her scalp, covered in a fur as silky and black as her hair had once been. Her fingers developed a constant ache that forced them into a near-permanent clawed position; whiskers sprouted, long and sensitive, from a rounded-off nose. Her once useless muscles hardened all in one place: her legs, which were now stout and strong. Fur. Fur everywhere. She was soft to the touch, a living pillowcase. And to top things off, one day she woke to find a poofy little tail poking through her pants. Needless to say, she prefers to avoid mirrors. As for what she wears, these days it’s mostly baggy jackets and skirts, as though she could even hope to hide her deformed figure. Really, now. It’s not like she was the only mutant here, for god’s sake, and really, she was quite lucky to get stuck with an adorable bunny rabbit instead of something really ugly. But apparently she never fully grew out of being an angst-riddled teenager.
[sub]POSITIVE TRAITS[/sub]

Helpful- Claudia, as insecure as she is, strives to please others she respects. With most, if not all, of her fellow teammates being many years older than her, this aspect of her personality comes out in full force. Need a bottle of water? On it. Need a pack of gum? She’s got ten. Need to defuse a bomb Team Justice just laid?...She will definitely get someone else who knows what they’re doing on it!
Easy-Going- Even if she often finds herself caught up in needless bouts of self-loathing, Claudia is not the one to start a confrontation (even if she can certainly end one). She’s more of a minor gear on the team, providing the last bit of energy needed to accomplish a goal. Because of this, she avoids most of the drama that an emotionally charged team such as Revenge might generate. In fact, it was her willingness to go along with the program that enticed her into joining Project HYBRID; having the responsibility of her life plopped into the government’s hands sounded great, at first.
Fair- Claudia has a strong intrinsic sense of right and wrong, even if she may not choose to act on it right away. Nothing irritates her more than to see true injustice in the world. While for a long time she felt that it was the job of other, more capable people to right these wrongs, it was only after being transformed and subsequently diagnosed by Project HYBRID that she felt the need to act. And surely it wouldn’t be with the likes of those optimistic fools prancing around and doing good; no, what she needed was the angry, motivated individuals that could…fight for her, more or less, but at least her name would be on the participation ribbon.

[sub]NEGATIVE TRAITS[/sub]

Selfish- Despite her moral code, much of Claudia’s thought and actions are directed towards things that would benefit her directly. Case in point: joining Team Revenge. She had nothing against Team Justice, really, but after thinking it over she easily came to the conclusion that in the long run – however long that was going to turn out to be – it was just better for her to be one of the “baddies”.
Low Self-Esteem- In school, Claudia often felt that the only thing getting her by in life were her looks. Bat a pretty eye at a boy, he did your homework for you. It seemed like a pretty good deal. As though that could make up for the void where hobbies, interests, and friendships were meant to go (oh, more on that baggage in a bit). And, unfortunately, it seems that horrifying rabbit-folk aren’t considered to be too pretty by those pesky beauty magazines. Any reminder of her own appearance causes a wave of nausea to pass over her (or maybe that was just another symptom of the cancer? Damn, she couldn’t even tell at this point).
Passive- While Claudia can be called to action if asked to, most of the time – even in normal conversation – she comes across as mind-numbingly unassertive to the point where most interactions devolve into a cycle of “Yes...really?...Is that it?...Yeah?”

[sub]QUIRKS[/sub]

Loves the quiet- With the usual overstimulating environments she is forced into, there is nothing more in life Claudia loves than to find a hidey-hole to curl up into and forget the world on. Pillow over head optional.
Gossip hound- Due to her closed-off nature, there will often be long periods of time in which Claudia will not make a sound. Because of this, she often overhears bits and pieces of gossip she shouldn’t be privy to. Post-mutation, the giant ears atop her head certainly help. Now, she can overhear information from rooms away- and you bet that she uses this to her advantage.
Scurry- Sudden loud noises had always upset her – now, however, with her new “prey” instincts infused into her blood, a surprise might very well send her into an outright sprint from the room. This comes across as pretty funny, so as long as you’re not Claudia herself.

[sub]ANIMAL[/sub]
European Hare
[sub]POWERS[/sub]

Speed- When the time comes, Claudia is able to run at breakneck speed from one location to another. Only in short spirts, but still fast enough to evade a sudden blow or escape an attacker. This also comes in handy during Team Revenge’s heists; she can be sent in to steal something, only to blast off and throw it to someone much larger and more intimidating.
Hearing- The massive ears atop Claudia’s head allow her to hear anything within three times of a normal human’s hearing range. Standing in a busy area, such as a traffic-clogged roadway-is pure agony for her sensitive senses.
Jumping- Those strong rabbit legs are perfectly able to propel Claudia’s newly tiny body upwards of ten feet vertically and thirty feet horizontally. She’s rather shit at landing, however, and tries not to surpass her capabilities (lest she suffer an injury-inducing crash landing). She usually only goes for a few feet per leap, just to be safe.

[sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub]

Follower- It can be incredibly difficult for Claudia to start something for herself. She often relies on others to start things for her, and yet she tends to complain about not getting the things she wants. She can be manipulated fairly easily.
Tiny- Her small body size causes her to be easily overtaken by anyone who sneaks up on her—before she can run away, of course. If someone can get a hold of her, she can easily be thrown around, crushed, flung, etc.
Loose ties- Never close to her parents, seemingly out of pure defiance. Never had any true friends in high school, either. Because of this, she is incredibly bad at making friends, keeping the ones she manages to gain, and responding emotionally to others. She also lacks a support system in “the real world” outside of Project HYBRID. Overall, she is quite lonely—but also very difficult to get along with.
Constant need to eat- She burns calories at a fantastic rate, and has to eat almost always to replenish them. She can work efficiently in short spurts, but stamina-wise Claudia struggles to keep up.

[sub]CARCINOGENIC QUALITIES[/sub]

Poor immune system- This, paired with her low weight and small size, results in her being sick near constantly. This is especially unhelpful during combat.
Migraines- Claudia is susceptible to sudden migraines, often painful enough to completely incapacitate her. These are aggravated by bright lights and, as with everything else, loud noises—very hard to avoid with the ears.
Sores- There are a series of never-healing sores along her back, registering as furless patches of raw skin. Very irritating, and downright painful when pressure is applied to them.

[sub]SURVIVAL RATE[/sub]
Claudia’s skin cancer has reached her lymph nodes, dropping what would have been a 98% five-year survival rate to a 62%.
[sub]FEARS[/sub]

Not amounting to anything- Though she is young, Claudia fears that she will not be able to make her life “mean something” before the cancer finally makes her kick the bucket.
Never finding love- In her nineteen years of life, Claudia has never dated a single person. She knows it’s silly to worry about something like this, given—well, everything else, but she’d love to feel wanted for once. Being a lesbian does not help matters much in terms of romantic compatibility, either.
Being misremembered- Claudia has a lot of things she’d love to get off her chest, but still does not feel close enough to anyone on Team Revenge to open up. She feels it likely that she’ll go to the grave being portrayed as this depthless caricature, a senseless asshole with no regard for anyone’s emotions.

[sub]WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE?[/sub]
Claudia desperately wants to like herself for what she’s become. She wants to look in the mirror and see herself with her ridiculous ears, teeth, and fur, and not feel ashamed or disgusting. Getting her height back would be pretty cool, too, but that’s not likely to happen.
[sub]HISTORY[/sub]
Claudia was born the middle child to Marie and Stephen Soto, and raised with her older and younger sisters, Natalia, who was a whole twelve years older. Being the baby of the family, Claudia found herself doted upon; Natalia was old enough to take care of herself once she was born. With all of the special treatment she received, one could say that Claudia was spoilt rotten. Constantly demanding, complaining about most things, and wanting more, more, more… Up until Gabrielle was born. When Gabrielle was born, Claudia was fifteen. Natalia was long out of the house, and now her parents could redirect their attention to this new addition. Claudia, never learning how to do things on her own, at first latched on to a group of “risky kids” in her freshman year of high school. An avid follower, her main role was to cover for the rest of them should they be caught for cheating, drugs, or other misdemeanors. And things worked for a while, until they didn’t. Her father got a rather well-paying promotion in his career—a colonel in the Air Force—and the family had to move to a completely different town. Any of the shallow roots Claudia may have grown were completely destroyed, and she found herself entering sophomore year completely lost. So, eventually she just found it easier to stop caring about doing any better. She turned her focuses to having as much fun as possible with little to no trouble—which involved its fair share of alcohol and drug use, but nothing excessive. She exited high school with mediocre grades and no participation in any extracurricular activities, and while her parents encouraged her to pursue community college she was able to convince them that she was merely taking a “gap year” to get her plan together before leaving the house. …In fact, the Sotos were just starting to catch on when Claudia entered herself into Project HYBRID at the age of eighteen, legally old enough to enter her decently healthy body into the experimental program. The mutations were horrifying. The public ostracization was worse. The cancer diagnosis nearly sent her into a frenzy. Until she discovered Revenge. In the ranks of Revenge, she finally felt a part of something. People like her. People who knew. People who were going to do something about it. And so, she’s been fighting the good fight ever since.
