The walk through the sandy expanse seemed to take forever, but as the first rays of morning brightened the sky, greenery came into view, as did stone buildings. 

[i]Just a little further,[/i] Florence thought, her breathing laboured, her shoulders hunched. Staggering on past the palm trees and cacti, she let out Bonica. The Grass-type would probably like it here - at least, around this time, when it wasn't too hot. The cold night air had only just begun to warm up.

[color=springgreen]"You alright here?"[/color] the trainer asked in a cracked whisper. [color=springgreen]"Not far now... Aagh!"[/color] She stumbled back and fell as a cactus, motionless a few moments before, spun round and jumped at her.

Bonica rushed in front of Florence, ready to defend her, while Panacea, released from her Pokeball by the jolt, ran to her trainer's side to check for injuries. Instead of attacking, though, the Cacnea looked a little taken aback. "Nea...?" The Pokemon's impish grin faded, and his arms drooped.

"Dew! Budew-dew!" Bonica scolded the Cacnea. Turning around, Panacea joined in. The cactus Pokemon mumbled something, to which Bonica tilted her head and listened. "Dew..." Her tone sounded a little uncertain, but after Panacea said something, Florence looked on in surprise at what the two Pokemon did next. While Panacea kept the Cacnea distracted, Bonica hid behind a rock, jumping out moments later with a squeal. Being a tiny little rose bud, though, scary was something she couldn't exactly pull off. Instead of trying again, she danced for the other Grass type.

[color=springgreen]"Wait..."[/color] Florence stood up, brushing sand off her jeans. [color=springgreen]"You're lonely, aren't you? You just wanted someone to play with."[/color] Watching the three, she gave a smile - a slightly sad one. Bonica and Panacea were doing for the Cacnea what Vernie had done for them. [color=springgreen]"Uh... Just make sure to play nice."[/color]

Panacea suddenly squeaked, taking the Cutiefly egg from her pouch and passing it to Florence. [color=springgreen]"Hm?"[/color] As the trainer cupped it in her hands, it shook, making little peeping noises. A crack formed, widening, pieces of shell falling away. A pointed nose stuck out, followed by a fuzzy yellow face, as the newborn Pokemon wriggled free. Taking in his surroundings, he remained perched on Florence's hand, spreading out his damp wings to dry.

Florence's smile widened, tears of happiness coming to her eyes. [color=springgreen]"Hello there, little one!"[/color] she cooed, gently ruffling the fur on his head with her finger. Even with her recent experience involving caring for Cutieflies, she consulted her Pokedex, just to make sure she knew how to look after him.

[b]"It feeds on the nectar and pollen of flowers. Because it's able to sense auras, it can identify which flowers are about to bloom."[/b]

[color=springgreen]"Good thing we've reached the oasis,"[/color] Florence commented. The fresh supply of berries she'd bought earlier would sustain the Bug type, but flowers would be best for him. Her gaze settled on him again as she cradled him like a loving mother. [color=springgreen]"Chay. Your name's Chay. Meaning fairy tale."[/color]

The Cacnea drew back, his wary eyes on the bug. As Panacea turned from Chay to the wild Pokemon and asked him something, he drew himself up, shaking his head and uttering a defiant "Nea."

Florence chuckled a little. [color=springgreen]"There's no need to be scared,"[/color] she reassured him. She could understand why the Cacnea, being a Grass type, might be cautious around bugs. [color=springgreen]"He's just a baby."[/color]

She continued running her fingers along his fur, not wanting to think about what she could soon be dragging the hatchling into. She'd have to do her best to keep him out of this.

As soon as it became clear Florence was alright, Ella let a grin of adoration spread across her face as she looked at the Cacnea. [color=hotpink]"Grass types are so pretty!"[/color] she squealed. [color=hotpink]"Look at his smiling face!"[/color]

Right at that moment, the tiny yellow egg hatched, a winged ball of fluff crawling out. [color=hotpink]"Aww! They're both so adorable!"[/color] Ella leaned in, eyes shining as she took a closer look at the baby Pokemon. It was almost too much cuteness to take in. The Cacnea glared at her, clearly not taking too kindly to having been called adorable, then turned his unsure gaze back to the Cutiefly.

Before Ella could admire the Pokemon any longer, though, her Pokedex beeped. Checking it, she stared back over at the other two.

[color=hotpink]"Here's where we need to be!"[/color] she said, showing them the map, pointing at the marked location. [color=hotpink]"Viv's on her way there!"[/color]

[hider=Earlier that day]This was it, Luna's first official battle and she was rearing to go. [color=a187be]"Ok... Eclipse, meet Litleo's tackle with a Headbutt!"[/color] Eclipse tilted its head down and charged at the Litleo, meanwhile Flabebe took Chingling's confusion and seemingly brushed it off. [color=a187be]"Rose, counter attack with Fairy Wind!"[/color] The tiny fairy twirled around and released a sparkling breeze from its flower.

Both Eclipse and Breig collided, rolling across the ground. Refusing to show any sign of weakness, Breig righted himself, giving off even more heat. To his side, a gust of glittering wind swept Allegro back.

[color=yellow]"Ok, let's try something different!"[/color] Cici said, noticing how easily Rose had brushed off the Psychic type attack. [color=yellow]"Breig, use a Headbutt of your own, on Rose this time! Allegro, use Yawn on Eclipse!"[/color]

The Litleo charged once more, while the Chingling floated back over, a little unsteadily, opening his mouth wide and releasing a pink bubble.

Without Flabebe knowing aromatherapy, that yawn bubble was gonna be a problem, but she had a free move. [color=a187be]"Eclipse, fight through that yawn and go for a Bite!"[/color] The little dragon shook itself after the yawn bubble hit him and used what hyper energy it had left to jump at Allegro with a bite. [color=a187be]"Rose, try to trip Breig up with a Vine Whip!"[/color] Rose brought two vines and aimed for the Litleo's legs in the hopes it would slow down the Headbutt.

The Chingling drifted to the ground. [color=yellow]"Alright, Allegro, rest up!"[/color] Cici called, withdrawing him from the battle. It had been a little alarming to see Allegro defeated so quickly, but maybe the Deino would be less of a challenge to beat once the Yawn kicked in, depending how long he stayed asleep for.

Breig, meanwhile, tried to jump over the vines, but yelped as one of them struck his back leg. Doing his best to shake off the Grass type move - he was a Fire type, after all - he continued his rush towards the Flabebe.

[color=yellow]"Follow with Tackle! Again, at Rose!"[/color] Cici commanded. The Litleo pounced again, front paws stretched out to slam into his opponent.

A thud could be heard as Eclipse fell to the ground, asleep from the effects of the Chingling's yawn. With Eclipse out of the battle for a bit, Rose was all by herself and at the mercy of a charging Litleo. Thankfully the Vine Whip slowed him enough to drop the headbutt, but Breig continued his assault with a tackle. Rose took the tackle head on and was sent sprawling through the air as she slowly floated to the ground, thankfully enough, she got back up. [color=a187be]"Rose, try to get one more fairy wind off on Breig!"[/color] Rose waved her flower rather in a weak motion and released another fairy wind, if she got hit by the headbutt she might have gone down but she was weakened to the point that any attack could faint her.

Breig skidded back from the gust of sparkling wind, only still able to stand due to the resistance his Fire typing gave him, but still giving his opponent a defiant glare.

[color=yellow]"Use Headbutt!"[/color] Cici called. [color=yellow]"That should do it!"[/color]

Mustering all his strength, the Litleo sped at the weakened Fairy type. Cici tensed a little. The opposing Flabebe probably wouldn't be able to take another hit, but if Eclipse woke up during this round, neither would Breig.

[color=a187be]"Rose, look out!"[/color] But it was too late, the little fairy was too weakened to dodge out of the way and it was sent flying through the air by a direct hit by Breig. Luna returned Rose before she could fall to the ground and whispered a [color=a187be]"Good job..."[/color] at the pokeball.

It was all up to Eclipse. [color=a187be]"Eclipse, wake up, please!"[/color] Breig was weak but if Eclipse didn't wake up it was a lost battle. [color=a187be]"Eclipse!"[/color] With a sudden jolt the Deino scrambled to get up from the ground just like a child spook from a loud noise. Eclipse let out a yawn from waking up and jumped up and down rearing to go. [color=a187be]"Whew... Ok,
Eclipse use Bite!"[/color]

As the Deino lunged at him, Breig tried to dodge, but most of his energy was spent. Jaws clamped down on him.

[color=yellow]"Hang on and use another Headbutt!"[/color] Cici called. The air around him now scorching, Breig crouched to launch himself. Instead of charging, though, he only managed to stagger and collapse.

[color=yellow]"Breig, come back."[/color] Returning the Litleo, Cici looked over at Luna with a little smile. [color=yellow]"Those are some strong Pokemon you have there! Remind me never to get on your bad side,"[/color] she chuckled. [color=yellow]"Well, we'd better drop by the Pokemon centre again. Then let's head out."[/color]

She wasn't too worried about how Allegro would react - the Chingling seemed to cheer up pretty quickly. The proud and feisty Litleo, on the other hand, might not take it so well. And Cici could only hope the defeat wouldn't dampen their spirits for the challenge ahead. At least they were stronger now, more experienced, more prepared.[/hider]
[color=yellow]"Again...?"[/color] Cici nearly toppled as the stony ground suddenly shook under her. It was nothing like the earlier earthquake, but it was enough to loosen small chunks of rock from the cavern walls. She froze in place, staring around. [color=yellow]"Well, we might be close to finding our culprit..."[/color]

There was a scuffling noise, and the next moment, Cici found herself faced with five dragons. Two Bagons, a Noibat, an Axew and a Fraxure, all of them frantic, their harsh cries echoing.

[color=yellow]"Uh..."[/color] Cici stepped back, glancing at Luna and Tommy. [color=yellow]"They don't exactly look too happy to see us."[/color]

Beside her, Ligeia puffed up, while Dulcet flew above the dragons, squawking. Forte and Kymbalon both stomped forward.

[color=yellow]"Careful, Ligeia!"[/color] Cici called as the Noibat swooped. Ligeia jumped up, her inflated body letting her drift out of the attack's way. [color=yellow]"Use Sweet Kiss!"[/color] The Igglybuff blew a glowing pink heart at the Noibat, throwing off its flight pattern. [color=yellow]"Dulcet, Dragon Pulse! Kymbalon, Dragon Tail! Forte, use Uproar and focus on the Fraxure!"[/color]

As the battle unfolded, a swipe of the Axew's claws sent Ligeia flying. [color=yellow]"Ligeia!"[/color] As the wounded Igglybuff bounced off the cave wall, Cici scooped her up in her arms. The Igglybuff, despite her injuries, tried to struggle free, still set on protecting her trainer.

Light flooded the cavern. Cici turned her head away with a gasp, closing her eyes, nearly dropping the Pokemon. She could feel Ligeia growing. When the light faded, Cici stared at the Fairy type. The flickering afterimages cleared from her vision, revealing Ligeia's changed form. The pink Pokemon, now larger, looked up at her with wide blue eyes.

[color=yellow]"Oh, Ligeia!"[/color] Cici couldn't help but grin. Her happiness, though, turned to caution as the fight intensified, growls and roars sounding through the cavern.
