Character Sheet for Dacer Gaico
Name: Dacer Gaiaco 'Don't call him Dace' Title: "Title? What are you, some kind of politician?" Height: 5'8'' Weight: roughly 155 lbs Age: 25 [Appears to be in his late teens] Race: Gaian, a humanoid race of Ki-bound entities that follow a strict code of conduct regarding the values of life and nature. They boast considerable raw energy, and age far slower than normal humans, but otherwise share most of their traits and behavioural habits as most humanoid races would. Discernible features include abnormally bright green iris', Pupils with a darker, plant-like hue, and the company of a familiar who's form can vary substantially. Gaians are bound to reality by their familiar, linking directly with the creature's soul in order to tap into an incredible supply of power granted by their goddess, Gaia, a supposedly omnipotent being that lives within the fabric that divides reality from the void of the multiverse. Gaia herself is merely a substantial cosmic entity who's consciousness has long since faded. Her significance remains only to grant Gaians a purpose, and tremendous power. The limits of her reach are unknown, but Gaians worship the teachings that she's passed down from the beginning of time, according to their texts. Tier: Advanced. (4)[?] The physical capabilities of a Gaian are naturally enhanced at a multiplier of 3x as a rough estimate. Their ability to tap into Gaia's Ki and harness power, speed, and sometimes intelligence that dips into the extraordinary. In Dacer's case, he can compose most natural elements, both matter and energy, by manifesting arcane energy and infusing it with their Ki. The power behind his attacks range significantly; From barely lethal enough to kill a human in most cases, to destructive enough to level buildings in rarer cases, Dacer can shift the raw force behind his abilities on a whim. His speed and agility far outweigh his magic's power, however. In short bursts, he can move just above Mach one by overclocking his muscles. On average however, it's not uncommon for him to run faster than 60 MPH with total control over his momentum. Using his primary weapon, the Bow, his draw speed allows him to fire 4-6 common wooden arrows in 0.8-1.1 seconds. His magic allows this as well, assuming the energy of his attacks is minor, and does not outweigh his agility. As far as physical endurance goes, Dacer's capabilities are not super-human. Despite his bones and flesh maintaining a slightly denser composition, and his ability to dodge attacks deftly, he cannot shrug off gunshot wounds, severe burns, deep cuts, or any other form of injury any better than a human could, if he were to sustain damage. Appearance: Unimposing is the first word that comes to mind when going over the plethora of mundane traits that riddle this Gaian boy's body. Dacer maintains a light skin tone and sports casual clothing that contrast his origins and teachings as much as humanly possible. Despite his sworn oath to protect the balance of nature, he wears Cargo shorts created by modern humans, and a red T-shirt that displays the phrase, bite me across his chest in the most standoffish way possible. His dirty blonde hair is riddled with fading highlights on occasion, and devoid of any sort of style, instead resting in a messy fashion, overgrown to the point where it's almost obstructing his vision. In every way possible, he's fashioned himself to fit into modern society, in order to live among the... People, who have no knowledge or interest in the arcane. His posture is aloof and lazy, hunched forward with his hands usually concealed in either one of his side pockets. Despite his conventionally attractive features, Dacer's expression does his jawline little justice. He's usually cringing, pouting, pursing his lips irritably when people look at him. Most commonly, his response to inquiries that annoy him is a sarcastic half-smirk, transitioning into a very emotive roll of his minty green eyes. More secretive features that lay beneath his clothes are two distinct scars. One runs straight through his right knee, spreading towards his thigh and shin as if it had been struck by something broad enough to cut his leg clean off. The other shares a similar pattern, and sits just above his right elbow. Aside from these two blemishes, his body is in pristine condition, and retains an unusual youth for his age, even as a Gaian. Personality: He's an asshole. A giant asshole at face value, with no redeeming qualities that go beyond his aesthetically pleasing features, and abnormal physical and magical capabilities. Dacer puts no time into getting to know people, and judges everyone he comes across based on the first impression they make. The very first impression they make. Bump into him on accident? You're an uncoordinated jackass. Make a passing comment about 'adding to the pile?' You're an ungrateful trash bag. Miss his greeting or something he's mentioned? You're an air-head. It's all about making the grand first impression, which, by Dacer's standards, is no easy feat. Even so, there are qualities hidden behind his wall of distasteful behaviour. Dacer respects good moral values, the drive to do the right thing, and people who are too nice. You can never really be too nice, as far as he's concerned. Even if you're kissing the asses of somebody he doesn't know, there's merit to having a modicum of humility and kindness, in his eyes. A lot of it. He'd even go as far to say that heroics are the epitome of greatness. Throwing your life on the line for the good of others, even if reckless and stupid, makes a man larger than life itself. Dacer wouldn't throw his life away or step into any sort of conflict unless he stands any sort of chance, but the gesture is something that he'd never put down, even if he'll acknowledge it as an ignorant and selfish gesture under his breath. When it comes to people who do earn his respect, Dacer's attitude doesn't change very much. He's still brash and offensive, albeit to a slightly lesser, or more playful effect. But when addressing his friends, or people who he looks up to, Dacer tries his best to be what he defines as respectful. He's definitely quicker to call people out on their stupidity, but finds it harder to dash naive hopes. In fact, when it comes to innocence, especially from the perspective of the youthful, his usual wit and retorts fall short, filling his mouth with a dense cotton, and overwhelming his better judgement. "What kind of tool could make a kid cry and still think of themselves as a good guy?" Despite his projected confidence though, Dacer has severe insecurities that well up in rare circumstances. Under no means is he a coward, but if there's any doubt that his abilities might have an effect, his willingness to fight plummets, and his flight or flight response kicks into overdrive, sending him into a full retreat, both in battle, and in social confrontation. When speaking with well-spoken individuals who manage to out-do his reasoning, he commits to a slurry of vulgar detachment, and ejects himself from the conversation, convinced that his stance was correct, even if it wasn't. 'Fancy talk' also makes him somewhat nervous, and dampens his ability to speak out in a crowd, forcing him to fall into the background quietly, like a child watching his parents argue. His look on conflict of any kind contrasts his attitude completely, making him a walking paradox of angst, despite his age. He really hates fighting, after all! "Violence is the worst! Now stand still while I pop yer' head open, shrimp." Lastly, his experience with women is completely lacking. Setting aside the fact that nudity makes him excessively uncomfortable, sending him into a literal panic, Dacer does not handle his feelings well. His maturity has remained frozen at the point where anyone who garners his attraction, also incites a deathly fear deep within his soul. He has a harder time talking, fighting, and putting up his aggressive front around people that he likes. Romantically, he's practically a teenager. It borders on pathetic! The only person he truly treats with the utmost respect, not hiding his core personality for even the briefest of moments... Well, he isn't a person at all. He's a tabby cat! Like all Gaians, Dacer has a familiar linked to his soul. His tabby cat, Tiger. Dacer speaks with Tiger as if they were related by blood, and since nobody else can understand the strange animal's mewls, it can be a little off-putting to watch them converse. Nobody except Dacer knows what Tiger's temperament is like, but he seems to act in a similar fashion to his master. Don't pet him unless you know it's safe. Abilities, Talents, Traits, Powers: Gaian Physique [T2-3]: As a Gaian, Dacer possesses inhuman speed and strength, as well as abnormal regenerative capabilities. His bones and flesh are toughened to resist more punishment than a human's, and his stamina is virtually unlimited unless he taps into his magical capabilities. He can run 60 MPH at his top speeds, and dash just above Mach 1 for very short periods of time, by placing tremendous strain on his muscles and joints. His strength allows him to draw and fire a bow at a rate that allows 4-6 arrows in 0.8-1.1 seconds, and he can lift roughly 1 ton of sheer weight with a moderate amount of effort. His physical endurance when it comes to taking blows is only slightly higher than that of a normal human, and his regenerative capabilities are only relevant long-term. As shown by his scars, he does not possess a substantial healing factor, either. He seems to age slightly slower than humans as well, despite sharing most other physiological similarities with the race. Dacer's Go-To form of combat is his Windslash Bow. Like all Gaians, he can summon a weapon composed completely of his soul energy, which retains an astronomical density, and can be nearly impossible to break. Gaian weapons are however, an extension of the soul. If Dacer loses his grip on the weapon for more than a few seconds, it will disappear. Likewise, others cannot wield his weapon effectively, as it no more than a mere stick in the hands of others. His weapon of destined choice, the bow, is a large, green hunk of wood with ornate carvings along its edges. It does not possess a drawstring, but its body is rigid, and curved as if it were held in place by one. Dacer uses the bow as a tether for his energy, allowing him to pull against it while conjuring different types of energy in order to stretch it into long strips, and release them at excessive velocities. Kikrash Arrow[T4]: The sheer speed of his arrows differ based on their composition, but his fastest, and most common form of attack, is his 'Kikrash' arrow, a stream of white light that can, at its best, travel at 450 MPH. The power of his Kikrash arrows are more formidable than anything else in his arsenal, but they also require the most stamina to create. In terms of destructive power, his most powerful Kikrash arrow can level a building, melt through most solid matter like butter, and create shock wave that can be compared to the explosive force of dynamite. a kilogram of it, to be precise. The strength and speed of these arrows can be reduced to the point where they are no stronger than... Well, common arrows. They are however, composed of pure Ki, and cannot be deflected by normal means. At 100%, Dacer can fire roughly 10 of these at maximum power before creeping towards Fatigue, or 1000 at minimal power to avoid tiring himself out. Despite the difference in strength, all versions of his Kikrash arrow can be lethal if aimed properly. The colour, size, and shape of these arrows differ based on their properties, from bright white, to an off white. The scope of his abilities beyond his general 'point and kill' style of fighting, range vastly, even if almost nothing else in his arsenal even touches the destructive power of a fully charged Kikrash arrow. He can conjure any common earthly form of energy; Fire, electricity, water, ice, you name it, and he can probably do it. Though, he is only practised in certain elemental techniques, due to the complete inadequacy of covering his opponent in vines, as opposed to freezing them solid, or attacking their nervous system with electrical energy comparable to lightning. His elemental mastery is as follows. Staticshock [T2]: Staticshock arrows can be fired at low energy costs, and can have an energy output anywhere between 30-80 volts. Despite their element, Staticshock arrows only move at 150 MPH, but their form is without a consistent shape. After being fired however, Dacer can control them. At his best, he can maintain 3 Static-shock arrows if he dedicates all his concentration to doing so, meaning he would not be able to efficiently dodge under these circumstances. With 2 arrows out, he can easily run about and attack at a slightly slower pace, and with only 1 out, he can fire other arrows in tandem with no change in proficiency. When struck by these, the effect depends on the target. The breathing of most humans can be stopped at 49 volts alone in some cases. Complete paralysis and death are not out of the question at higher voltages, but against beings who's endurance is abnormal, the best these arrows can do is inflict temporary paralysis. Frostflake [T2]: Frostflake arrows are simple in nature. They freeze things and create ice-slicks. They move no faster than a common arrow however, at roughly <200 MPH. The scope of these arrows allow them to freeze entire limbs of the human body in an instant, but they don't go much further than that. They're Grrrreat! Furyflame [T3]: Furyflame arrows are simple as well. They burn things, with heat ranging from 400-585 degrees Celsius. These arrows have no explosive force behind them, but do spread out upon contacting surfaces, dispersing their heat accordingly. The range of the spread is dictated by the force of the arrow, reaching a maximum of 10 meters in diameter. Windwhip [T2]: Windwhip arrows are condensed pockets of air that have very little in terms of destructive power. They do however, move at 400 MPH, and are nearly invisible to the naked eye. At most, they have enough power to bruise flesh, and whip up light matter. They can be detonated as well, creating a burst of air, which can be used to effectively disperse poorly-focused attacks, or deflect light projectiles. Other abilities allow Dacer to use his elemental arrows in unique and flexible ways. Cloudclimb arrows: Dacer creates what appear to be low-flying clouds with this blue arrow. These clouds can channel the effects of his other arrows into different techniques, but require a fair amount of setup. Under normal circumstances, they can easily be dispersed by enemies, and don't linger for more than 30 seconds before fading of their own accord. [T4] His static shock arrows are transformed into imitation lightning bolts [T2] His Frostflake arrows create a focused torrent of blizzard-like wind that drops temperatures to below -30*C. [T2] His wind whip arrows create airborne whirl-winds. All effects consume the cloud, except for his static-shock arrows, and the lightning bolts they produce. [T1] His Flame arrows disperse the cloud and create a thick smokescreen. Dacer's capabilities go even further when paired with his Familiar, Tiger, who, sure enough, can grow to the size of a wild cat, allowing Dacer to mount him. Tiger moved at 80 MPH, has a fair amount of strength, and unlike Dacer, sports an extremely durable body. Killing a Gaian familiar will, in time, kill the Gaian as well. But familiars possess the ability to hibernate, making them damned near invulnerable as they fade from reality for a set period of time. Doing so removes them from battles indefinitely. Items: Dacer carries apples with him, often in his short, leading to bulbous bumps sticking out of his thighs, more often than not. Other than that, he owns a wallet made of plastic materials, his clothing as mentioned above, and a pair of form-fitting shoes with an unknown origin. History: The dawn of time saw to many things, but the Gaians were not one of them. There was no need for a race so ingrained in nature's beauty. Nothing threatened to harm the splendour of her forests, or poison her rivers with filth. But as her terra grew older, Gaia knew only pain. A pain that dug into her body without pause. Men and women tore the earth to shreds, animals were forced from their lands in place of what the humans labelled as progress, and her nameless planet slowly began to die. Thus, Gaia took form as more than just a rumoured presence. The lingering energies of the souls taken by sinister greed manifested, shaped by fleeting emotions and desperate wishes. In an invisible crash of energy, at the center of the endless ocean, Gaia was finally borne, and to her, the Gaian's themselves. With her creation, the soil of Gaia's people rose from the ocean, insignificant in is expanse, and still yet hidden by the magic of the earth mother. It was just large enough for the newly born Gaians to thrive, living at peace with nature, and embracing her Gaia's teachings without doubt. Hundreds of years passed to this effect, but the world did not change. It only grew more terrifying and cold. It had lost its grasp to magic, overtaken by darkened technologies and the desire to improve. Gaia's roots in the people of her world were cut, and secluded to the small island she'd created for her people to thrive. At this point, she'd had enough. The teachings of mother Gaia morphed into something ugly, slowly trespassing into the realm of moral corruption. It was taught that Gaians were beautiful. The most beautiful. The only beings worthy to live on their Terra, and embrace the last specks of nature that remained. Soon, these messages were lost in the translation of ages. Rituals arose, executing Gaian's who's physical features were aesthetically unappealing. This practice of abominable eugenics was embraced for several generations. In time, the Gaian people had lost their humanity, if they had any to begin with. Next, Gaia made it her sole purpose to select a target. She granted the Gaian people tremendous power by tether her own soul to that of the Gaians, but not before her final decree. Humans, aliens, creatures that seek to destroy our holy Terra. They are less than dirt, worthless, and to be considered nothing more than fertiliser beneath the roots of nature's will. Any to look down on nature, who seek to harm it for their own goals, will die at the hands of Gaia. That was the gist of her final teachings. The Gaians took it to heart, and accepted her power with open arms, declaring a silent war on any who lived beyond the borders of her island. However, as she granted her people these awesome powers, her body began to lose its shape. Within decades, mother Gaia faded into an ethereal presence. A century more, and she was gone, soon to become a creationist myth. With the death of Gaia, the Gaian people were granted another amazing power. Free will. It wasn't long before their human-like tendencies took hold of the civilisation. The Gaians craved progress. They built more stable houses, cleared the forests, and uncovered the secrets of Gaia's power through a new technique that soon became commonplace throughout the ages: The Arsenal Of Gaia. With their newfound abilities, and growing population, the Gaians chose to venture beyond their horizons. They built boats, organised groups, and explored the sea with the desire to learn more about the planet that bore their earth-mother. What they found, did not please them. Metal pillars, ships that soared across the skies, and humanoid entities that were cold to the touch. The Gaians were angered, offended, and responded with sheer aggression with their Familiars at their sides. Unfortunately for them, despite the unusual prowess of their ancient magic, they were no match for an entire population of technologically advanced monsters. The mere 20 Gaians were wiped out in an instant, taking only a few thousand souls, or lifeless mechanisms, with them to the next life. The island of Gaia felt the pain of their deaths resound through their bodies like a tidal wave. It was unbelievable. Inconceivable. On that day, they Gaian people were imprisoned on their island by a force more powerful than Gaia herself. Fear. Centuries passed, and the Gaians slowly branched away from the corrupt teachings of their mother. Though, the will of her power did not. Although deformed, and aesthetically unpleasing children were no longer executed, the blessings they received from Gaia were insignificant compared to their peers. A class system quickly rose to power, placing the most attractive, and intelligent Gaians at the top. At this point in time, the current leader of the Gaian people, Lark Gaico, fathered his first child into his society. Dacer Gaiaco was born. Lark himself was not respected or hailed nearly as fondly as previous rulers. His father, Seiner Gaico alone, who still lived, did not respect Lark's desire to abolish the class system and bring new order to Gaia, Nor did he think fondly of the man's wish to venture beyond the protection of Gaia. Lark was unlike any before him, teaching kindness and peaceful behaviour to all, and urging his people to have an open mind when addressing the new world. Dacer looked up to his father, but was set aside to spend time with his mother, as Lark took it upon himself to try and convince his people to change their ways. When Dacer reached the age of 17, the unthinkable happened. Gaia's blessing fell. The very same blessing that hid their island from the planet's new ruling races. The Gaian people thought it a curse for Lark's outlandish ideals and blasphemous orders, while others sided with the man against any who spoke against him. It wasn't long before this sparked internal conflict, leading to a devastating civil war, with Seiner leading the rebellion, and Lark leading those who remained loyal to his teachings. Before the outside world could intervene, more than 90% of the Gaian people were killed in a bloody battle over supremacy. Blinded by hate and loyalty to Gaia, the Gaian's were nearly wiped out. At the final confrontation, Seiner and Lark engaged in a fight that levelled half of their island, leaving very few survivors. At this point, Dacer escaped the island on his own, out of fear for his life, using one of the archaic boats used by his ancestors to feel the island hundreds of years ago. He left his people behind out of fear, and anger. Why couldn't everyone just stop being so goddamn stupid? It seemed the only one who agreed with him, was Tiger. Not even his closest friends, Ross, Diane, Alviana, none of them would escape with him, more loyal to Mother Gaia, than the bond that they shared since childhood. Dacer fought his way through a torrent of tears, and escape the ocean's grasp, as well as severing his ties with Gaia as best he could. As time passed, it became clear that he was the last surviving Gaian. Surely the rest were wiped out fighting their idiotic little war. Surely... Right? At any rate, he was alone, and that's the way he preferred it. Alone.
I'm not sure if the lore is acceptable, but it's taking into account the history of Frixion Prime as the initial Gaian home-world. It's also less relevant to Dacer himself, and more an recap of the Gaian Race. Dacer lacks a significant history to fall back on, unfortunately. If there are any problems, let me know.
