Through narrow eyes enshrouded in the shadow of an oversized baseball cap, he sees a world corrupted by impurity and chaos. Unlike himself, the world is a fragmented mess of colour, of life, of disharmony, sickness and destructive desire. His physique, as much as it is visible through the loose clothing he always wears, is muscular and healthy. He only wears one set of clothes which, for whatever reason, never appear to get dirty or stained regardless of how much filth he walks through or how dusty the air gets. Perfectly monochrome - made up of black and white, with not even shades of grey - his clothing closely resembles a sort of sketchy or abstract version of a baseball uniform, albeit with nothing to distinction it as part of a specific team or nation. Lastly, when observed closely, the 'creases' of his eyes - seemingly always shut or obscured - almost resemble very tightly shut eyes themselves... [b][u]PERSONALITY ASPECTS [/u][/b] -- Apathetic -- Antisocial -- Determined -- Quiet -- Single-minded -- Violent -- Clever -- Bad at dealing with 'normal stuff' -- Philosophical (sometimes) [b][u]BACKGROUND INFORMATION [/u][/b] The stranger who awoke from the nothingness between Zones, the Batter is simply a 'being' that exists for the reason of purification. Tasked by a mysterious, nameless force with this mission, he has begun travelling the Zones - numbered 0 through 3 - on a single-minded mission to destroy the Spectres. The Spectres, though a relatively new force in the Zones, appear to be born from the departed and instinctively act to spread chaos and disorder in the world. While most of the population are powerless against them, the Batter is capable of slaying them and does so without question or explanation. When all worlds collapsed into each other, he placed the blame on the Spectres and is determined to resume his mission... if only he can find their source. Seeking information and a place from which to plan his next move, he comes to 2Fort on a seemingly temporary stop... [h3] [b]CHARACTER CAPABILITIES [/b][/h3] [b][u]~SKILLS~[/u][/b] -- [b]Proficient 'Purifier'[/b]: A talented fighter, the Batter regularly does battle with the abstract and monstrous 'Specters' that infest the Zones. With bat in hand, he strikes with swift and varied blows and can use a variety of strange techniques called 'Competencies' to target the specific weaknesses of his opponent(s). -- [b]Philosophical Problem-Solver[/b]: The Zones are a strange and confusing place, filled with complicated mechanisms, absurd bureaucracy and whimsical conundrums that limit a person's movements and keep the world organized into many strange and special boxes. The Batter, however, has no difficulty with such challenges and regularly solves them. His keen mind rapidly works out the solution to puzzles of the abstract or fantastical sort without difficulty. [b][u]~COMPETENCIES~[/u][/b] As the Batter destroys more Specters and comes closer to attaining his goal of purification, he will no doubt learn many more of these strange 'Competencies' that let him channel tremendous power through his baseball bat. These 'Competencies' drain him of mental energy and physical stamina, but are potent while they take effect. -- [b]Save First/Second Base[/b]: His bat begins to glow, emitting a soft energy that can heal the wounds of himself or others. The effect is slow and limited to less serious injuries, but can be useful in a pinch. 'Second Base' is simply a stronger/quicker version, but in turn drains him of more energy. -- [b]Run With Courage[/b]: Utilizing the element of [b]Metal[/b], the Batter's bat is energized... and then hardens, becoming coated in heavy 'armour'. These layers of bolted steel make it more clumsy to wield but allows it to strike with much greater force that can shatter or crush heavy armour. Interestingly, when used, the Batter's personality changes ever so slightly, and he appears to fight with a heavier and more brutal style focused around ending the opponent in as few strikes as possible. -- [b]Run With Grace[/b]: Utilizing the element of [b]Plastic[/b], the Batter's bat is energized... and then gains the consistency of liquid rubber. Becoming a strange whip, it drips with boiling, toxic fluid and moves with terrible speed, burning through its targets like acid. Interestingly, when used, the Batter's personality changes every so slightly, and he appears to fight with a lighter and more cautious style focused around maintaining greater distance and covering his bases (no pun intended). [b][u]~Perks~[/u][/b] N/A [b][u]~Faults~[/u][/b] N/A [b][u]~Weaknesses~[/u][/b] -- [b]Foe of All Worlds[/b]: Despite his talents as a warrior and his primary objective being the destruction of dangerous monsters, his strange appearance, lack of compassion towards others, and the exact nature of what purification [i]does[/i] often leads to him being a social outcast. He doesn't particularly care, of course, but it can make gaining allies a difficulty task and he often faces his battles alone, leading to an over-reliance on his own skills and abilities. -- [b]Single Minded Soul[/b]: His devotion to his cause often leads him into dangerous situations, and while he will occasionally show restraint against overwhelming odds (such as running away from an initially invincible enemy), he none-the-less does often get himself, and others, into trouble through his dedication and unreasonableness. He also shows a strong unwillingness to listen to others if their objectives are not of obvious value to his own - the concept of simply 'doing a favour', even for potential future rewards, isn't really something he understands. [h3] [b]INVENTORY & EQUIPMENT [/b][/h3] [u][b]~STARTING EQUIPMENT~[/b][/u] [b]Harold Bat[/b]: A simple iron baseball bat with a bleached white colour scheme. Like the Batter's clothes, it never seems to get dirty or stained. Aside from its permanently monochrome design, the Harold Bat is able to channel the Batter's 'Competencies'. It is not otherwise special or unique from any other baseball bat.
