She is often seen wearing an off-white ruffled blouse cinched with a belt, and she pairs this with black lace up pants and a pair of black boots. She is a fan of jewelry and is almost always seen wearing her siren pendant necklace. To complete her unique look, she wears her hair in intricate braids. The braids more often than not include cornrows along the sides of her head to pull her hair away from her face, while the rest of her hair is left only partially braided. See example. On “special occasions” she will grudgingly dress up in fancy dresses, get all dolled up, and wear those dreaded corsets. But said occasions are few and far between these days. It is befittingly really as she shares several similar qualities to them. She has this remarkable way of drawing people in through a combination of methods. For one, she is strikingly beautiful, and she knows this and uses it to her advantage. Her beauty is only enhanced by her boundless self-confidence. She gives people just enough of what they want to hear while maintaining an air of mystery that ultimately keeps people’s interest sated. And yet it seems that too often she uses her alluring nature to serve her own devices. Don’t let her allure fool you into thinking that she is not a dangerous woman. Too many have made that mistake and paid the consequences of her deception. Her deceptive ways are an often times unfortunate but sometimes useful result of her skewed upbringing. Beyond that is a woman who fought hard to gain her freedom, and once she had it in her grasp, she would fight tooth and nail to keep it. She has always been adventurous, wanting new things and experiences that she for a long time could never have. No matter what life dealt her she would walk forward with her chin held high and her willpower unfazed. She will ultimately destroy anyone who stands in her way, and she will do it with a smile on her face. Sirena’s family was quite well off financially, benefiting greatly from their affiliation with the East India Trading Company. Additionally, they maintained a strong presence in the eyes of the gentry and peers of London, England. Traditionally, the men of the family ran the business side, while the women upkept the family’s social standing by attending events of the ton and marrying into wealthy and influential families. Everything was done for the sake of becoming more profitable and furthering their place in society. The women of the family were often just as, if not more, influential and dangerous as the men were. These women infamously have an alluring nature and a knack for deceit. Sirena’s parents were no different from their forefathers, keeping to the traditions, both the good and the bad, wholeheartedly. Behind Your Name: Sirena was named after the sirens of Greek mythology. They were beautiful yet mysterious creatures of the sea who used their enchanting voices and songs to lure nearby sailors to their deaths. Her middle name Kalliope fits perfectly with her given first name as it is the name of a Greek goddess of epic poetry and eloquence and means beautiful voice. Her name is befitting as she has many similar qualities to that of the sirens and is ultimately proficient at deceiving and luring in men. History: Sirena Ikaria was born in London, England as the only child of a wealthy family of merchants who were affiliated with the East India Trading Company. Her father was the captain of his own ship and was often away from home due to his occupation. Occasionally, she was allowed to accompany her father, but more often than not she was stuck with her mother. Like the many generations of women before her, Sirena’s mother was a force to be reckoned with. While private tutors taught Sirena the common subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, her mother taught her the art of deception and seduction. Overtime and with lots of practice, she became quite proficient at deceiving people, luring in men, and gathering intelligence from them. This would prove rather useful in the future. Throughout the years, Sirena was dragged to various events of the ton. She rubbed elbows with pompous peers and gentry alike to maintain the family name. She was also forced to discreetly use her newfound skills of deception and seduction on anyone deemed as being a potential partner or as simply having information pertinent to the family trade. She felt more like a well-trained slave than a beloved daughter. Her life truly wasn’t her own; it was whatever her mother wanted to make of it. She often found herself in precarious situations, at the mercy of powerful men who could destroy her in more ways than one. It ultimately hardened her and fueled her disliking and distrust of men. As she became older, arranged marriage became more and more inevitable. Under her mother’s control, freedom was basically nonexistent, and she did not expect her situation to be much different once she was married. She became increasingly more desperate to get away, and she would find freedom in possibly the most unlikely of places. Sirena cherished the times she was allowed to accompany her father on his ship, no matter how few and far between those times were. She found a sense of freedom out on the open sea that nothing could compare to. She drank it all in, knowing that soon enough she would be forced back into her mother’s control. On one fateful voyage to Port Royal in the year 1712, she would take fate into her own hands and at last gain her freedom once and for all. Over the years, she had heard many tales about pirates, and while most talked about them with distaste or fear, she was forever intrigued. She envied their lifestyle. Sure, it was violent but it was free. Free from the nauseating intricacies and pomp of the ton. They made their own rules, and they were their own authorities. They answered to no one but themselves. That was the life she wanted more than anything, and she would do whatever it took to get it, no matter the cost. One night while staying in Port Royal, she snuck away from the inn her and her father were staying in. She scoured the taverns until she found a pirate captain looking for new recruits. That’s when she met the man who could give her the life of freedom she wanted: Calico Jack. She knew it would be no simple task to be recruited for there were many things that did not work in her favor. For one, she was a woman in fine clothing. She was only nineteen years of age, and she was the daughter of a merchant affiliated with the despised East India Trading Company. She had to prove she had something to offer them, and that she did. She struck a deal with a pirate of all people. If he would take her in and teach her the ways of the pirates, she would give him all the information he needed to successfully take down her father’s ship and enjoy the spoils a merchant’s ship had to offer. She provided the route the ship would be taking, floorplans of the ship, and even the daily work schedule. Once the deal was struck, she went back to the inn and acted as if nothing had happened. And then she waited for the day that the pirates would ransack her father’s ship and take her away. A pirate’s life became the only life for her. Over the years, her skills in the art of deception and seduction proved quite useful for the pirates. In exchange for her helpfulness, they taught her many new things. She faithfully served under Calico Jack for many years before she ventured onto a new adventure. When Harlianne acquired her own ship, the Bellona, and went in search of a mysterious flask, Sirena eagerly went along for the ride. They bonded fairly quickly, being some of the few women aboard the ship and having similar likes and dislikes. Sirena always respected and looked up to Harlianne for her strength, courage, and tenacity in a world ruled by men. Sirena trusts her more than she has ever trusted anyone in her life. When Harlianne acquired her own ship, the Bellona, Sirena didn't hesitant to jump in on the adventure alongside her best friend. He flirted with her, and she acted as if she was interested. They flirted back and forth for awhile before he eventually took her back to his quarters. As soon as they were alone, she knocked him out with a bottle of rum to the head. She then stole a scroll from his quarters and switched it out with a fake before quickly escaping while the man was still unconscious. And she does respect the woman's strength, courage, and loyalty. However, she cannot help but be a tad bit cautious around the woman as Anastasia seems to be easily provoked and prone to using unnecessary violence.
