Certainly, he has the vanity and needs of one who grew up accustomed to riches, and the worth ethic of a person who never had to work. From the moment he was born, everything was handed to Édouard on a silver platter, and while this did cause him to become a bit pretentious, it also sheltered him. There's an innocence about him that some may find charming, as while he's an adult, he still has a bit of the mentality of a child. He's old, but he hasn't really grown. 

This causes him to be a bit reckless, always wanting to go out and do something interesting. Édouard is constantly reevaluating himself and where he is, hoping to find something to take away the boredom. Anything that he deems to be work is thrown out, but if he thinks of it as an experience or an adventure, his attitude changes. Too innocent and kind to run the mafia, Édouard has been forced to grow up and mature from the apocalypse, as he's survived without a household full of servants to take care of his every need. In a way, he's like a child leaving home for the first time, and interacting with the real world.

They own vast amounts of property and enjoy a good deal of wealth, mostly derived from the drug trade. His father and mother had each been raised in the business. He has two older sisters, both of them ruthless and cunning, and hoping to gain control of La Fraternité du Sang. Their only obstacle is Édouard. 

[b][color=#cc6699]Behind Your Name:[/color][/b] Édouard is a family name, meaning [i]Wealthy Guardian.[/i]On his father's side, the eldest son was always named Édouard by tradition. His middle name, Gautier, is in honor of his mother's deceased brother and means [i]Powerful Ruler.[/i] Neither of these descriptions are rather fitting for him, unfortunately. 

[b][color=#cc6699]History:[/color][/b] Édouard enjoyed a relatively comfortable life in Southeastern France, living not too far from Italy. His parents were involved in [i]la mafia française[/i], trafficking all sorts of illicit goods. The youngest in the family with two older sisters, Édouard enjoyed all of the riches from the trade. He was given his own bodyguard and was taken care of by a household of servants and staff. The lifestyle he enjoyed earned him the nickname Joli Garçon, meaning Pretty Boy.

Édouard wasn't truly cut out for organized crime. Preferring parties and fine clothing to threats and underground networking, his parents groomed his sisters for running the business, and doted on l[i]eur petit prince[/i] instead. His parents tried in vain to educate him with private tutors, but those tutors hardly stood up for themselves and only taught Édouard subjects that he was interested in. Consequently, while he became fluent in Italian, he never learned to speak English. 

His pampered life of luxury lent itself into a rebellious phase by the time he was 17, with Édouard getting multiple tattoos and piercings, in addition to his La Fraternité du Sang tattoo. He started to ask [i]comme un gothique[/i] and his parents took this change positively, hoping to direct his attention towards the family business. They assigned him a small chapter to look over in Paris, hoping to groom him into taking over one day, much to his sisters' annoyance. 

And while he did go to Paris, he fell in with another sort. He hired a man to teach him how to "swashbuckle" and threw away a small fortune on unneeded pleasures, as well as potentially fathering several illegitimate children. By the time he was twenty years old, Édouard was out of control and his parents were blind to it. His oldest sister, Alisanne, devised a plan. There were rumors of a flask containing ultimate power out in the Bermuda Triangle, and her little brother had always enjoyed the sea. She persuaded their parents to send Édouard to collect it and they agreed.

The man is oblivious as to what happened to this day. It isn't uncommon for him to get glares from girls in pubs, so he pays it no attention. It just means they're jealous that he's already spoken for...right?

Édouard thought he was being rather clever and funny, bridging the language barrier by mocking Anastasia for her missing finger. He hit on her, using the most vulgar hand motions he could think of, and it didn't end well. Anastasia ended up clobbering the man, and to this day, he thinks of her as his most violent ex-lover...even though nothing happened.

One thing led to another and they ended up back in his quarters. He doesn't remember much of what happened that night, only that he woke up the next day with a massive headache and a bottle of rum near him. Suffice to say, he regrets deeply that he doesn't remember his night with Sirena.
