"I would not call it pain, precisely," Lunise said. She breathed deep and relaxed under Meesei's fingers. "It was a harrowing experience, make no mistake. I was simply trying to be sensitive to your impression of it." Lunise ran her thumb over her fingertips on one hand. Her voice lowered into regret. "A werewolf claw inflicted that wound.
