Pontiff Cromwell As they walked the Governor turned towards Cromwell, “I understand that your Church has had some problems with the Cult. Currently our Commonwealth hasn’t had much dealing with them aside from the odd missionary here and there.” It seemed that way to the Capital Wasteland too, at first, his thought as his face turned grim as he remembered past events. “Even though we are welcoming of members of all faiths, their presence to our west worries us. They are aggressively expanding, and push their beliefs on others. That is not something we can accept. Our commonwealth is built upon the belief of freedom of religion, and our most pious people will do whatever it is to protect such right.” The Pontiff nodded in approval. "That is good that you and your Commonwealth have such resolve to resist them. The Cult is subtle and insidious. When they first came to my home, they did not do so openly. They first spread their dark influence, leading men and women astray with their words, seeding betrayal long before it took place. No darkness, however, can hide from Atom's light, and it was by his grace that I was able to discern the shadow hanging over the wasteland. I do not know what their dark designs were, or what they are now, but they cannot be trusted." I pray that Pennsylvania does not learn of this the same way our neighbors did. “I am sure we can work out a mutually agreeable deal between our two nations. After all, we have surplus steel, coal and food to offer. I am sure you can find use of our resources.” We have little use for coal when we have Atom's glow, but food and steel would prove helpful, in maintaining our bulwark against the Cult. Cromwell smiled as they descended into the vault. "I cannot speak for all those in the Capital Wasteland nor those in the Commonwealth, only for Atom and his faithful, Governor, but we are not without means of our own to trade. Our holy city of Megaton is a beacon of commerce, while Atom's holy island to the north is home to wonders both of technology and of nature that cannot be found anywhere else."
