We fought like we were men and women possessed, but we were forced out of our homes. Now? Now we take it back from them."
Welcome to Zeketown. The idea behind this RP is, instead of taking over a country, we instead take control of bands of survivors, no larger than 40 people maximum to start with, and try to reclaim a city from the living dead, clashing with each other and building up multiple sanctuaries. The smaller scale would allow for more characters and more clashes, more individuals and more bonded groups, making this more of a cross between a normal group and a nation RP.
Dachia is a large, western city that, pre-zeke, had a population of around 9 million people. A single large river runs through the middle of it, and around the mouth of the river are huge amounts of abandoned docks and warehouses. The city is surrounded by farmland, although the quality of land is poor, and post-apocalypse, few major crops are likely to grow well there, apart from perhaps potatoes. Due to the size of the city, there are still many small isolated communities holding out against the horde. If shown sufficient leadership, some might join, but a number of them are powerful in their own right, and will likely oppose any attempts at communications. Dachia has strict gun control regulations- whilst revolvers, shotguns and antique weaponry will much more prevalent than any other kind of equipment, melee and improvised weaponry will be the name of the game.

Zekes, zombies, zeds, ghouls. Whatever you want to call them, they're here. Infection transmits through any contact with infected fluid or tissue. Because of this, when fighting infected, any open cuts must have a waterproof covering, and eye/mouth coverings are highly reccomended. Motorcycle masks and gasmasks are good choices. Zekes do not require sustenance, but are driven to infect all uninfected beings. They can be killed via overwhelming damage to the body, or destruction of the spinal cord/brain, and can be crippled much like humans. Zekes have an unusual propensity to recover from injuries sustained whilst alive. Humans with spinal cord injuries have been reported to be able to walk normally after infection. Incubation period takes on average 20-24 hours, with the lowest recorded infection time being 12 seconds (in the case of an implanted, infected kidney,) and the longest being 49 hours. Currently, there is no recorded incident of anyone being immune, and no cure synthesised. There is a vaccine, but it is dubious, and runs the risk of infecting the person who takes the vaccine.
