"Sam is fine, and thanks," he said to the professor, he figured fireproofing his room may have to go on the back burner for a bit, but he was glad to know it was something they could get to work on in the near future. He would have offered to watch over the girl they found at the crash site but after saying it the professor seemed to decide she was probably fine on her own. The offer to let him help cook was appreciated but he had to inform her, "I'm not that great in the kitchen, I can grill things and that's about it, I'll help out Ashley." Speaking of Ashley, she now had the transponder to locate Boxcar and asked Sam if he was coming, "yup, coming." He walked down the stairs quickly, skipping the last few as he followed her around the corner and in to the basement. Sam was usually fine with basements, but that was when they had proper lighting, and the stairs had a proper railing. At least there was a wall to keep him balanced, he was really awful with stairs. Not that he couldn't use them, but he was always paranoid that without something to hold on to he would just fall down. Sam figured now might be a good time to tell Ashley that he thought the werewolf thing was actually kind of cool, "hey, Ashley..." but unfortunately for him as soon as he started to speak she seemed to have picked up on Boxcar. "Never mind, tell you later," Sam went to the corner and heard her thuds on what should be ground sound more like a metal door. Ashley was trying to keep Boxcar calm, which was probably a good thing. Sam figured it might be a door the original owners may have wanted put in, but why was it hidden then? At any rate, Sam figured Boxcar must have found a button and walked in before trapping himself. So Sam started feeling the floor and wall near where Ashley was to try and find how to open it up to release Boxcar, "come on, the friggin' wolf can find the secret lever or whatever but I can't?" He was more talking to himself than Ashley at that point. It had to be a hidden button, there was no other obvious way that would open some secret door.
