Dearest Martha, It is with great joy that I write to tell you of the final surrender of General Lee and his Army of Northern Virginia. After so many terrible struggles, Antietam, Sharpsburg, Cold Harbour and so many others, we may finally lay down our arms. I hope that with the abolition of the evils of slavery and the help of the almighty, we can begin to balm the hurts of this great nation. All that remains now is to confirm the immigration status of the poor wretches who have endured so long in bondage. Yours Always, Jasper McSideburns
