[sub]His body is as fragile as a normal human being's, and it would take the same amount of time for him to heal from injuries. However, given that time, he can survive and heal from things that would normally kill. Let's say his arm was cut off:

He wouldn't "bleed", since the slime holds its own shape. Without blood to create scabbing, the slime instead covers the wound, continuing circulation and preventing infection.

The arm would be much easier to reattach since the slime would reconnect the proper veins and resume blood flow, though it would take time for proper function to return.

Answering your other question...

The slime doesn't mind; he actually has to bleed himself occasionally since the slime's growth creates a lot of pressure, which, while nonlethal, can be extremely uncomfortable.
